8) Halifax, QMJHL (Whynot)

Jack Beck is back!!!! 2a, +1, and a game-high 6 shots in a 3-2 OT loss to Barrie. 11gp/2g/13a/15pts,+9, 4 PIM. The 67's did just fine without him, holding a record of 26-6-1-1, still the top team in the OHL.

Hopefully Beck can add muscle or whatever he needs to do to stay healthy. Looks like a potentially skilled dude.

Bell and Ciona, both fast, big, strong players. Offensive jumps this year are very encouraging, but more encouraging that both already play a strong bottom-6 style game. Very encouraging and both could fill big roles for the NHL club with good progression over the next 4-5 years.

Beck was second star in a 4-1 win over Niagara, with 1g (game-winner). 12gp/3g/13a/16pts,+9, 4 PIM. Just for s**ts and giggles, Beck is tied for 18th in the OHL for pts/gp, ironically with Owen Beck.
Mooseheads beat the Sea Dogs, 6-4. Whynot gets 1a (the primary assist on the game-winner), +2. 32gp/3g/14a/17pts,+7, 12 PIM.
CIONA!!! was second star in a 6-0 rout of the Pats, with 2g,1a,+3. He's been so impressive. 33gp/18g/31a/49pts,+36, 50 PIM. He's tied for 7th in scoring, 2nd in plus/minus.
Tri-City loses to Vancouver, 3-2. No points,-1 for Bell. 33gp/15g/27a/42pts,+3, 41 PIM. Tied for 21st in scoring.

Hopefully Ciona keeps this up once his teammates are back from the WJCs. Not that he wasn’t already doing solid before but with them away he really seemed to turn up the scoring.

Sherbrooke beats Drummondville, 9-5. Huckins was first star, with 1g,2a,+3. 36gp/13g/19a/32pts,+8, 43 PIM. Doesn't look like the best numbers for a D+2 player, but there's plenty of big power forwards in the NHL that did worse. He was near a ppg in his draft year, but he's probably playing a little lower in the lineup of a talent-laden team. He's tied for 48th in Q scoring.
Seattle loses 6-2 to Moose Jaw. No points, -1 for Ciona, who had a game-high 9 shots. 34gp/18g/31a/49pts,+35, 50 PIM, tied for 9th in scoring, 2nd in plus/minus. Today, Seattle aquired Team Canada F Colton Dach and a 2024 5th rounder from Kelowna for D Ethan Mittlesteadt, F Ty Hurley, a 2024 first, 2025 2nd, and a 2023 4th.
Bell had 1g,+1 in a 6-4 victory over Victoria. 34gp/16g/27a/43pts,+4, 43 PIM.

By my count, Seattle now has 8 players drafted to the NHL, and 5 players that were in the WJC.

Shane Wright is reportedly heading from the Kingston Frontenacs to the powerhouse London Knights, for D Oliver Bonk and 6 draft picks.
Since Nov.5th, the Knights have gone 21-2-0-0, and have won their last 9 in a row. They sit atop the Western Conference.

I may have spoken too soon, as Dreger is reporting that Shane Wright is headed to the Windsor Spitfires, after the necessary paperwork is completed.
