I've always wished we got to see no lockout occur after winning the cup in 03/04 ....would we have had back to back cups?

Had the Flames won. I think the temptation would've been there post-lockout to really load up on free agents. Pre-salary cap, the Flames mainly stuck to value signings.

“When I drove the net and I looked at the puck, I thought it was in, and then I saw it hit the pad,” said Gelinas, who instantly figured for the fourth-straight series he had scored the clincher.

“In hindsight, I should have jumped up and down when chasing back for the puck, but I didn’t have that personality. Especially when playing for Darryl, I didn’t want to start celebrating while going back up the ice. I probably should have. But I’m thinking ‘for sure they must have the cameras to review the play.’”

They didn’t.

The NHL’s director of hockey operations, Colin Campbell, said of all the camera angles available to the league only one showed the puck, but based on the camera angle and the fact the puck was in the air and on edge, there was “insufficient evidence that the puck conclusively crossed the finish line.”
Quote:
In an effort to further satisfy his curiosity, Gelinas popped by NHL headquarters in Toronto the following year where he personally asked for their perspective.

“I stopped by and talked to Colin Campbell, and he said they reviewed it and said it didn’t go in — but they’re going to stick to their guns,” Gelinas said.

“I had never been to their office so I wanted to see how things work and just asked the question — not maliciously. He explained his side, and I’m sure it’s not the first time he had to.”
Quote:
“I tell them I believe it did but it didn’t count and I have nothing to show for it,” said Gelinas, who admits “crying like a baby” following the Game 7 heartbreak.

“It wasn’t meant to be. Really, when you look at it and have to assess and take everything into consideration, it was probably the right call.”

I'm actually more pissed off at the winning goal that Tampa scored in Game 6, the play should have been stopped and the Lightning should have been sitting in the penalty box for tripping.

There were two extremely blatant penalties on that play. One along the boards that prevented the Flames from clearing the puck, and one near the front of the net that was interference.

I love how nobody ever mentions the trip that I believe Lecavalier did by diving backwards and extending his legs out into our player breaking out in Game 6. That play kept the puck in the zone and they scored the game winner. Even worse is the play our player made in Tampa Bay where he dropped to the ice, blocked a shot, and his forward momentum took the shooter off his feet. The penalty called is the PP that had the game winning goal.

Sure, "it was in" but I was more pissed about a horrible missed penalty call that resulted in a goal and a BS penalty call in Tampa that cost us.

Exactly this. Worse still is the penalty in Tampa from a legitimate shot block that gave them the game winning power play goal.

There is a lot of #### to smear around from that series.

It's a Bettman pro-american conspiracy. It's a thing it exists!

That's pretty blatant. Sticks his legs out and trips the player preventing the clear. That's not conspiracy.
