"After the 2017 Gagarin Cup playoffs were over, Alexander Semin’s KHL team, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, decided not to renew his contract. Semin did not find another team to join in either the KHL or any other professional hockey league. Instead, he figured it was time to move on from professional hockey.
He applied to the Siberian Federal University (SFU) and plans to study metallurgy full-time. Specifically, he plans to pursue the Master’s Program in “Metallurgy of Non-Ferrous Metals” offered by the University’s Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science. He will be studying the “Theory and Technology of Foundry Production of Non-Ferrous Metals and Alloys”."
It's hard to believe, but Semin was only 16 when the Baha Men came out with their hit song "Who Let the Dogs Out?" Semin walks away from the game at the age of 33.

There is never a good enough reason, even something as momentous as a Semin retirement, to link this song.

All those memories come flooding back to a time when I studied Ferrous Metals at good ole' SFU. Or as we called it back in the day, "Shut the F%&^$ Up".
Good to see someone finally giving the Non-Ferrous Metals an equal billing. And including Alloys too!!! I didn't have that type of energy, too busy sipping vodka no doubt.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

True story: his nickname on the Caps was Jizz. I can't find the interview, but there was one where his teammate kept calling him that during a tv interview. I'm too scared to look it up at work though.
Dave King was coaching in Russia (Book - King of Russia) and I think alluded to a teenage Semin being a franchise type player... but only when he wanted to be.
Everyone called him the Fish or something because of it.
