Went with Parsons. He's the first goalie prospect the Flames have had that I legitimately believe will play in the NHL as a starter. I've had good feelings about guys before, like Gillies, but never quite like this. I think this kid is the real deal.

I disagree. If Parsons - today's Parsons, who just had an unbelievable draft + 1 year) were available in this year's draft, I think he would have gone higher than #16.

Flipped a coin and picked Andersson. It was between him and Parsons for me.

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
I asked Spencer Foo if there's any player that has had a similar career path to what he hopes is in store for him and he said Jake Guentzel.
This tells me that Foo also realizes that he may need seasoning in the AHL before he makes the big jump to the NHL. He's not some hot shot who left college a year early expecting to be a big time player in the NHL right away.

Yeah. I thought Trevor Kidd was going to be awesome. I thought Ortio was going to develop well.

I didn't think Price would amount to anything.

Just a couple of quick examples I thought up.

For sure Carey Price.

Probably last goalie comparable to Parsons in terms of Junior accomplishments is John Gibson. I suppose the jury's still out on Gibson but he is a starting goalie.

Rasmus. Guy is a #1 defenseman in the second best league in the world at age 20. Special player.

That's a pretty good list. But it isn't even relevant really.

ClffFletcher was comparing Parsons to Valimaki, so the real question is: knowing what we know today about the players (because this prospect ranking is a snapshot for today) would Parsons go before Valimaki in this year's draft?

And I think he would. I think it's highly likely, actually.

Those are my top three as well - I only rate Andersson higher because I think he's making the team this year and Parsons is at least another year away.

I was under the impression that the coaching staff and many observers considered Wotherspoon as Stockton's #1 guy with the exception of the powerplay.

Or did I imagine that as I cling to the hope that he'll make it for us one day?

Went with Parsons, but gave some serious thought to Anderson.
I think my next few will all be defensemen.

There are a bunch of great D to choose from, but it's going to be interesting to see where Foo settles in

Andersson, Parsons, Valimaki, Foo, Gillies, and Kylington could all have a great case as our #2.

Personally went with Fox, just for the reason that my own excitement for his potential ceiling outweighs the others by a small margin.

It's fun to have a list this deep.

Parsons for sure.

Highly touted goalies in junior usually play behind god-like teams and look amazing because of it. Parsons was a victim of that during his draft year with Marner and Tkachuk carrying the way, which allowed us to get him in the 2nd round.

Last year, he took a feeble London team single handedly to game 7 against the stacked Erie team. Given that performance, he would definitely be in the first round even in the absurdly strong 2016 draft, and definitely in the top 10 of the 2017 draft (if this year was somehow his draft year).

He is completely the real deal, and frankly, I was disappointed we signed both a starter and a backup because I think he will be very close to making the NHL team (much less AHL or ECHL).

CP has a tendency to fall in love with goalie prospects too quickly, exhibit A was Ortio being ranked number 3 or 4 two years ago. The hype is real with Parsons though, I'm allowing myself to picture him as a starter which is something I'm trying not to do with Gillies in case he falters. I've been extremely impressed with him since I watched a preseason game he played for us last year where he looked rock solid.

I voted Valimaki, if only because goalies are unpredictable witchcraft, but I certainly won't argue with people voting Parsons.

I'll join the Parsons train and go with him. Give him a slight edge over Andersson. Goalies are so tough to predict especially when they haven't played a minute of pro. I think he's the real deal though. Really interested in how he does this season and hoping he really challenges Gillies. That would be best case scenario.

Considering his accomplishments the past few years, there's surprisingly little video of Parsons' exploits on YouTube.
