Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2016 - Round 14

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. almost like Shark Week on the Discovery Channel Calgarypuck and the Summer Prospect Ranking has become an institution for rabid Calgary hockey fans.

2013 - Sean Monahan is the top prospect (2013)

2014 - Johnny Gaudreau takes his turn (2014)

2015 - Sam Bennett come on down! (2015)

The last three years have had a prospect named first, and then make an impact right away on the NHL team. Bennett had to have surgery and mop up the OHL first, but all three were big players for the Flames right away.

Will that be the case again this year?

As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.

Happy voting!

Round 1 - Tkachuk 83% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155575 )
Round 2 - Jankowski 42% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155585)

Hoping Parsons finally gets picked!

I'm guessing a lot more of the 2016 picks will get votes this round. Parsons, Dube, and Fox are close. And Tuulola apparently had a good camp. McDonald is close too.

I am finding this harder this year. 13 picks in and there are a bunch of players that have higher draft pedigree. Half a dozen or so players drafted in the second or shortly after.

Because more people voted for them than him.

I voted for Parsons over McDonald because his stats are more impressive, he has established himself as a winner, I've read reports that he was an underrated part of that Knights juggernaut, and mostly because from what I saw at the prospect camp he looked every bit as good in his first camp as McDonald did in his second. Overall, I just think he is the more exciting prospect.

Stopped voting for Hathaway and changed my vote to Tuulola. The only player who impressed enough for management to fast track his path.

Parsons looked really good in the MC and by all accounts he really impressed at the rookie camp.

But I am having a tough time ignoring Hathaway. The guy is actually an NHLer. And for every draft pick that isn't a 1st rounder, there is less than a 50% chance they'll ever make the show.

Also, not every prospect can be a top 6 player. Having great bottom 6ers is important too.

So Hathaway, then I'll start voting for the kids.

No... no sir.

Hathaway has played 14 NHL games and his almost 25. He looked good in his initial couple of games, showed a real spark but then that adrenaline wore off and honestly he just looked okay. He's not an NHL'er, odds are he won't ever be.

Parsons, mcdonald , hathaway all very good choices. But i went with tuulola because i was blown away with the kid at DC. Not just how he did in the scrimmage but post acrimmage interacting with fans. i watched him very closely in the power skating portion after and the kid was listening intently and giving it his best.

14 games does not make you an NHL player. By what crazy low standards is that. Ridiculous.

Good point on Hathaway. Would have made the team last year out of camp if not for the David Jones --> Matthew Phillips roster spot (or the irrationally terrible waste of space that is Bollig). He is a cross between a Jooris and a Bouma on the ice... I just wish his wrister weren't so weak.

The next several to close out the Top 20 will be tight. Good to see.
I went Pollock, but strongly considered Adam Fox, with a little consideration for Dillon Dube. Also makes sense for the guardians of the goal - Parsons & McDonald to get some votes at this stage.
