It is interesting that there seems to be "ledges" in this prospect ranking much like seen in NHL draft rankings.
1st ledge: Tkachuk
2nd ledge: Jankowski, Gillies
3rd ledge: Kylington, Hickey, Andersson, Shinkaruk

I went Kylington. But a case can be made for all three of him, Andersson and Hickey - take your pick.
At the same time we have three very different forwards in Shinkaruk, Mangiapane and Poirier. Again, take your pick, but I think the defensemen have a slight edge over them.
Nice to have some defensemen in the top 5.

pretty close between Andersson and Kylington for me and even hickey... seemed like RA still has some maturity/fitness issues to work out... OK just has such elite skating that, in theory, he shouldn't be caught out of position too much....

I put Andersson ahead of Hickey and Kylington. He is my favorite to make the team out of camp, came really close last camp when he was only 18. Has only gotten stronger since then.

where would the Flames top-5 rank on other teams..
The Hockey writers Derek Neumeier rankings of the Stars prospect sept 2015 had
#3 Julius Honka... same as Kylington straight from Draft to AHL where he put put 31 pts as an 18 year old..
#5 Esa Lindell
#6 Stephen Johs
#7 Jamie Olesiak
and their 5th best prospect was Jyrki Jokipakka.
They threw in their 5th best defense prospect for playoff rental Russell!!
Their 5th best prospect is penciled in as the Flames #4 or #5 best D in the organization.
Would Andersen , Hickey and/or Kylington break into the Star's top 4 defense prospects.... their top 10 prospects?

Jokipakka was 24 at the time of those rankings, he turns 25 this August.
How old are the Flames prospects you listed?

Not to mention he cherry picked (surprise, surprise..it is ricardo after all) one of the better defense prospect pools in the entire NHL to compare to.
Flames prospect pool isn't the best, but it's above average IMO and it's come a long ways on the back end too, in the last 25 months with the additions of Hickey, Andersson and Kylington.

I think Poirier is being developed into a third line winger who uses his speed to be an effective forechecker and penalty killer. Whether you think his ceiling is higher than that, I suspect the Flames organization disagrees. I think he can still become a good player, I just think expectations of where he tops out need to be adjusted.

That link also says Radek Faksa is an "honourable mention". the same kid who singlehandedly won them like three playoff games.

Honka is 20
Lindell 21
Olesiak 22
Johns 23
Dallas was adding a top D prospect every year.
The Flames prospects listed are all young.... but they are the best that the Flames have seemingly having passed Wotherspoon, Kulak.

Does Hamilton, who just turned 23, count?
Because right this very moment he is time zones ahead of any of the Stars D prospects.

If Jokki was their 5th best propsect at 24 years old then we would have a lot in their top 10.
Andersson, Hickey, Kylington and Kulak should be ranked above Jokki.

Surprised I have him above Anderssen but the two seem to have flopped standing this summer.

Jiri not falling in line... trying to throw dissentowner off the scent. Nice try Jiri!

Voted Hickey in the this round, with him just edging out Kylington. I thought that he had a very good showing last week at the Development Camp.
I'm having trouble figuring out where to place Pribyl in my list. I wish I knew more about him and his potential.

I'd knock Shinkaruk down a ledge to one with Poirier, etc personally. Don't see him as the same talent as the 3D.
