Default Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2016 - Round 10

It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. almost like Shark Week on the Discovery Channel Calgarypuck and the Summer Prospect Ranking has become an institution for rabid Calgary hockey fans.

2013 - Sean Monahan is the top prospect (2013)

2014 - Johnny Gaudreau takes his turn (2014)

2015 - Sam Bennett come on down! (2015)

The last three years have had a prospect named first, and then make an impact right away on the NHL team. Bennett had to have surgery and mop up the OHL first, but all three were big players for the Flames right away.

Will that be the case again this year?

As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.

Happy voting!

Round 1 - Tkachuk 83% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155575 )
Round 2 - Jankowski 42% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155585)

First tough one for me ...

Went Kulak as I think he has a higher roster reach than Wotherspoon. Not enough time to assess the Fox and Parsons of the group, and want to get a better feel on Pollock and Pribyl before making them top ten prospects.

Still going with Pribyl. Point per game in a mens league, skill and size, coveted by multiple organizations, management openly commenting about him possibly lining up with Johnny and Sean. Has to be in the top 10 IMO.

Still going with Fox. Best overall talent level of who is left. Very raw though.

Fox for a third time. Excellent prospect.
I won't vote for mediocre talent simply because they're closer to the big league.

the next 12-13 guys are almost interchangeable for me....
going with Tyler Parsons, though could make a case for any of Wotherspoon, Fox, Pribyl, Tuulola, Klimchuk, Dube, Hathaway, McDonald, Kulak, Pollock, or Phillips

Not only is Wotherspoon close to cracking the roster, he also plays the style of game that we are lacking on the big club. The big, tough, mean, physical d-man that can pass the puck, something we haven't really had since Reggie.

Went with pollock. I feel the only reason he's not 10th is because we don't know him as well.

I would agree a large tier of prospects that are difficult to distinguish. At this point only Wotherspoon, Pribyl, Hathaway and perhaps Kulak are likely to get any playing time on the Flames this year.

The ceiling on some of the other players is higher but a year or two in CHL/AHL is needed to determine that.

The biggest complaints I have heard about Wotherspoon to this point is that he isn't tough, mean or physical and he is pretty average at passing the puck.

I like the third of our Swedish Defensemen here.

Although I am running out of people I recognize. I didn't vote Wortherspoon as I don't see him ever getting past the bottom pairing which to me puts him in a lower tier then some of the guys who still have upside.

Wotherspoon is an NHL player at this point, and has to tools to be a solid #4. I think he's a better all around player than Kulak.

Also like Pribyl here, but hard to slot him ahead of Wotherspoon without seeing him play.

Very tough at this stage - went with Pollock but debated about half a dozen names.

Spoon. Close to being an NHL defender and I don't think we know his ceiling yet. But definitely an important year for him. Earlier poster made a good point about Pollock. We really don't know anything about him. Quality prospect or throw in?

Pribyl. He very well may be their top line RW this season.

Does Wotherspoon play a big tough physical game? I didn't see much of that in his NHL games. I don't have a problem with people voting Wotherspoon here, but his upside is a #5 D-man. I voted Pribyl because it wouldn't be surprising to seem him on the first line sometime this season.

This is where it gets interesting.

Do you take the sure bet, but low ceiling player?

Do you take the high potential guy still very early in his development?

Do you take the high risk, high reward guys that have been around a year or two?

I went with Parsons. I like his accomplishments to date, and I think he's got that competitive edge you want to see in a goaltender. Long way off from the pros, but there are elements that make me more excited than some of the other guys.

I also considered Kulak, Fox, Dube, Wotherspoon, and Pribyl.
