Going with the 25 and under with 65 or less games played at the NHL level which actually works pretty closely with my own rule of thumb of "anyone not too old that hasn't been penciled in".
Therefore Granlund, Ortio and Ferland are still prospects.
Monahan and Gaudreau are young but clearly established and no longer prospects. Bennett may be penciled in but he's only played 12 NHL games and is a prospect.
This is a prospect vote. I don't care if they've played NHL games in the past, I care if they are going to play NHL games in the future.
I agree with you for the most part... but in rounds 30-35, NHLGP starts to matter. The fact that a prospect was considered NHL capable at one point, definitely should garner him votes this late in the game. Odds are not good that Deblouw or Bruce will be given the same NHL opportunity that Grant already has.
I don't know much about Bruce except that he's a big defenceman but I see him as the only one left with some NHL upside until proven otherwise.
Wolf and Billins are no longer a factor even though I liked Wolf. Deblouw has shown very little in college and I doubt he'll be signed while Grant may serve as an injury replacement but that's it.

Right now the odds are not good that DeBlouw or Bruce will be given the same AHL opportunity!

Wolf and Billins will likely never play in North America ever again. Bruce and DeBlouw are both very long shots to make it. Grant will at least play pro hockey in the Flames organization this year.
It's not a ringing endorsement, but he gets my vote here.
