Wasn't meaning to drag you into it, was just pointing to how many more posts iggy_oi has on the topic than the rest, but I said you incorrectly. I meant Bingo.

You have a measly 6 posts in this deathmatch. Pull up your socks.

Yikes ... I guess I have some time during a pandemic, but with your summary it's clearly time I move on.

Done!

I must admit iggy_oi's devotion to the topic is kind of fascinating. There is pro-union and then there's a union activist. Nothing wrong with being devoted to the cause and I'm alway curious why things like this become so important for some as most people have already formed their opinions of unions one way or another so it's a lot of posts and effort for little to no enlightenment.

Equally fascinating is how much time Bingo devotes to going back and forward with some posters like this and Ricardo when we all know there's no light at the end of the tunnel in these discussions.

I am wondering this too. Havent seen many notifications on progress one way or another. Seems if they want to start mid Jan we'd have seen an announcement by now? Would they announce a season resumption less than 30 days out?

Tkachuk appears to be on his way to Calgary based on his latest Instagram story.

Based on what I’ve read, the season is likely to go forward. Bettman and NHLPA talked all weekend and Monday regarding starting in bubbles or hubs to limit travel. They’ve also been in talks with American officials to see how many fans they can allow into buildings. Once all this is sorted out, I believe an owner’s vote will take place and the season will be able to start.

My personal belief is that we will have a season starting sometime in January and that American fans in limited capacity will be allowed to attend at some point shortly after. I do wonder if it’ll be vaccinated people only though.

Not a bad situation for Calgary to burn off a year of the Lucic contract, as well as the final year of Stone's buy out, and the 2nd last year of the Brouwer buy out all in a six month 56 game window!

I’m thoroughly not regretting my decision to refuse to follow the blow by blow labour negotiations of the National Hockey league for the third time in 16 years.

Ryan also has a short farewell season.

Tkachuk only 130 games left before gets paid really big bucks.

Short season for having Valimaki and Dube finishing their ELC

Lievo has a short show me season.

Probably good and bad Cap/value ramifications for all teams.

Do other N American sports have these kinds of constant labor issues? I basically only follow NFL and NBA casually, and I'll watch MLB playoffs.

Didn’t MLB just go through one of the biggest public disputes this past summer? I remember hearing about it a lot.

Hockey has them now because the union head who led MLB to strike just before the playoffs, after collecting all their paycheques, is now leading the players union. Tough to negotiate and trust your "partner" when he has proven he doesn't care for anything but getting the star players paid. Because of him doing that no league governor or commissioner will ever trust the players word again, and seeing as the owners have all the toys the players will lose each time.

Chris Johnston reporting that NHL is preparing for the possibility that all Canadian teams will play in the US this upcoming season if local health authorities don't allow a Canadian division to play in Canada.

I was told today the league is running into some opposition from the Canada Public Health Agency and other levels of government, making a Canadian bubble or games in the U.S. a very real possibility.

Someone needs to stab this year in the face so we can be done with it all.
