I hate the Oilers as much as you, but Koskinen is the only goalie to have played 6 games so far.
Currently:
Koskinen - 6 GP - 199 shots - 33.2 shots per game
Hart - 5 GP - 158 shots - 31.6 shots per game
Binnington - 5 GP - 138 shots - 27.6 shots per game
Andersen - 5 GP - 137 shots - 27.4 shots per game
Holtby - 4 GP - 134 shots - 33.4 shots per game

Prove it.
As for the metric I think it illustrates two things about the Oilers that are no good:
1) The Oilers allow a TONNE of shots.
2) The Oilers are so bad that they are left with Mikko Kostinem to start all if their games.

exactly - the reason he has played the most games is because EDM does not have a backup
because Edmonton is no good

... and they are hanging on for dear life on the back of a goalie who is arguably not a NHL quality starter.

If, as a player, you knew your time in the NHL was up, had no aspiritions of winning the cup (or already did), and knew your only chance for another payday was to sign in Sporting Mulletville, why wouldn't you coast around? How much wear and tear on the body would you save sitting on the bench the whole game watching McAvi and Raisatil get 30 mins a night? Knowing you're not going to have to play in any critical situations whatsoever? Are players allowed popcorn on the bench?

ha.... just imagine it now.... oilers get scored on, putting them in an even deeper deficit and there is the backup goalie or another player sitting on the bench doing this...
or the coach is just losing it on a player and at the far side of the camera-shot you see this...
that would be AMAZING!! ha! ha!

One of the perks of the job is the front row seat to that comedy production.

I'm I imagining this, or was there a backup goalie eating a hotdog on the bench back in the day?

....and that goalie who is arguably not an NHL quality starter is making 4.5 per year for another season beyond this one.

Sometimes it’s worth a shot to se me if something clicks, especially with skilled players.
Yamamoto technically didn’t earn a call up from the AHL and to get put right into the top 6 with Draisaitl- but they did and he clicked and it worked out for them.
Puljujarvi maybe hasn’t earned his shot to play with McDavid but so far they’ve worked well together.
Sometimes you just need to put a skilled guy who is underachieving in bottom 6 minutes into the top six to play with other skill guys to see if it clicks.
Sometimes I think the Flames have the opposite problem and wait too long for guys to “earn” it.
