Personally, I'd double the amount of ram but everything else is looking fine, really

Really depends on what programs are being used. If it's for gaming, 16 is plenty.

Most games probably, but I seem to be playing more and more lately that need 32, especially with VR

I’ve seen the exact same modules I currently have. Could I buy two more 8 gig sticks and throw them in alongside the current ones? Or is it better to have to only 2 sticks of 16?

Depends on the DIMM alignment (single or double row) but unless you're a hardcore benchmark guy, it doesn't matter that much.
4x8 is usually preferable with most CPUs/chipsets for pure speed. The difference is fractional overall.

My 1080Ti started acting up a few weeks ago and ended up failing about a week ago, deadlocking the system as soon as any hardware acceleration was engaged (ie: loading any driver other than the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter). Best possible timing, y'know, since the GPU market is so consumer friendly right now. I was able to get a 1070 off a friend for cheap and sent the 1080Ti to Asus for out of warranty repair, deciding that if the cost was as much to repair as getting a new card via war10ck3d's Twitch stream, I would just pony up and buy one of those cards.
After a few disheartening days of watching cards show up only to discover they're part of $2,500-$3,000+ NewEgg bundles, f--k it. I'm paying for the repair of the 1080Ti. Still cheaper than buying a new card right now.

Are there any factors on the horizon to indicate prices might come down soon? Or at stable least availability?
I think I'm going to start building a totally new rig in about 3 or 4 months.

I think stock is still pretty slim and I can't imagine that the situation will improve in 3-4 months enough for them to drop prices. I think I saw talk about supplies continuing to be an issue into 2022 now.

What about ordering stuff from the US? The Canadian dollar has been going up a lot, it's like 82 cents now.

How about we just murder the scalpers and take their hardware? More than a few cards available on Kijiji.

I did order my CPU (Ryzen 5800x) a week ago from https://www.bhphotovideo.com/ which is located in the US. Was cheaper getting it there and having it shipped + duties/taxes then buying one from any other computer store in Canada. I think it shipped from New Jersey and only took about a week to get here.
Shipping to Canada is free on a lot of products there if you spend at least 99 usd.
Everything else in my new build I got from Newegg and Canada Computers.
Now all I need is to upgrade the GPU and I'm set for at least a couple years. Hope my EVGA FTW3 1080TI holds up for another 6 months to a year until demand for the GPU's gets better. Whenever EVGA decides to do a 3080TI queue I will attempt to get on that as early as possible though. Might luck out but I ain't holding out any hope of there being many cards available as I've been on the queue for the 3080 card of the same name for half a year and haven't had any notifications yet.

Not to mention they use DHL to ship to Canada, who are, by far, the biggest criminals when it comes to "border fees".
Typically B&H takes care of this as part of the order, but DHL will always try to squeeze you for extra and you can tell them to pound sand if you want to risk them sending it back.

My orders from them have been shipped with FedEx, never been asked for a brokerage fee. But yeah my dad got a package the other day (not sure where from) and he was shocked at the brokerage fee, I told him don't use UPS or DHL when ordering from the US, better to use something like DYK Post.
Interesting about their labour practices, I'll check that out. EDIT: That sucks

Also kind of annoying that you can't buy from them on Saturdays; web servers aren't obligated to observe the Sabbath day!

Mine was through FedEx also. Funny thing is I was expecting the CPU on the 4th and the truck stopped right outside my house. So I waited at the door and after 3-4 mins it just drove off. About an hour later the tracking info changed to the 5th and the guy came early that day and mentioned he couldn't find my package the previous day and left. Guessing they forgot it at the sorting facility or something? lol

Did a big meeting with AMD and NVIDIA late last week...don't expect supply issues to get better anytime soon. Nvidia's Ampere line will be easier to get but doubtful you want to pay this prices for a home machine. AMD is a little better off but will face silicon issues in the near future.
Sounds like stock priority will be given to partners and manufactures first and the general consumption. Not a good time to be in need of PC upgrades.

What happened to all the video cards? Nothing to be had out there... Memory Express looks like a picked over and abandoned flea market when you check online.
