Will be interested to see who they have the ship out to make room for Petro. Chemistry in the dressing room is definitely underrated in professional sports. If it's Schmidt and/or Fleury, those are two big character guys who are highly respected on that team and in the community. Will definitely change the vibe in that room and with the fanbase.

Why does it feel like these guys have unlimited cap space compared to us?
Stone 9.5M, Pacioretty 7.0M, Karlsson 5.9M, Smith 5.0M, Marchessault 5M, Tuch 4.75M, Schmidt 6.0M, Theodore 5.2M, Martinez 4M, Fleury 7M, Lehner 5M and now Peitrangelo?

Well, they’re now way over the salary cap.
You know the other thing? Their centre depth isn’t very good.

They need to shed $7M, but their payroll still only includes 12 forwards. If they move Schmidt with nothing retained or coming back, they are still over by $1M with a 21 man roster.

I still think they have to move Fleury and maybe the Schmidt report was premature. That sword in the back tweet was downplayed, but it had to have created an irreparable rift.

If Fleury had only 1 year left, maybe. But I very much doubt they would take his $7M for 2 years, with noting retained.
