Icon25 CHI trades Saad ($1m ret) and Denis Gilbert to COL for Zadorov for Anton Lindholm

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Sounds like something coming down with CHI/COL....not sure of all parts, but Saad/Zadorov believed to be involved.

Nikita Zadorov's agent has just tweeted his client has been traded to the Blackhawks with the idea Brandon Saad will be the returning piece for the #Avs.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
CHI/COL deal is Saad and Dennis Gilbert for Zadorov and Anton Lindholm. CHI retains $1M on Saad.

Unless Chi retains On Saad I think Colorado is out on Hall.

Zadorov has been a big pain to play against, have no problem seeing the Avs ship him out.

Interesting trade. I feel like Saad will fit in well on a line with Kadri

Zadorov is a guy I'd take on my team any day, I think this works out well for both teams. Colorado opens a spot for Byram who I think is going to be a star

He wasn’t a pain last year and he won’t be for the next 3 seasons.

Perhaps the Avs have been told they are out on Hall.

This speculation pleases me.

Colorado needs defensive help. Strange deal.

The Avs are stupid good.

Truly the Carolina Hurricanes of the West with their seemingly full analytics approach

Makar

Plus Byram and Timmins are basically guaranteed to be regulars next season, not to mention the Avs still have tons of cap space to add more depth if they deem it necessary.

The Avs have incredible young talent on defense

I hated playing against Zadorov, and thought he was pretty good in the playoffs this year. Seems weird that they were willing to let me go.

I've always kind of wanted Saad here. LW though.

Timmins should be a top 4 guy, Byram has Makar level potential. Colorado is going to be just fine

They need a couple veterans to round out the cast and take the pressure off the pups. Name a team that went anywhere with 4-5 defensemen under the age of 25?

It’s more that he is inconsistent and Bednar has very little patience for him. He’s a guy that really needs a coach that can tolerate when he makes mistakes. Bednar hates penalties from his players and Zadorov was notorious for taking bad penalties but also for getting penalized for being big.

I absolutely loved him as a player, had brilliant moments and just some real dumb, dumb moments, but he was always fun to watch.

It will be Colorado. Makar will win multiple Norris trophies.

Yeah, I wonder what they could add to their defence at this stage. Who’s available? Vatanen, Gustafsson, Forbort, Connauton, Ceci, Greene...*gulp* Pietrangelo?

They’ve got Byram likely stepping in next year...and Timmons. #%^* off Colorado.

I'm sure Sakic would be more than happy to bring in veteran presence on defense if he found the right piece(s).

Sakic seems to be part of the new age of thinking where he doesn't necessarily buy into the "you need veterans who have been through the grind before".

If it's a defenseman who provides value on the ice and just so happens to be a veteran and have lots of playoff experience while taking some pressure off the younger guys, great. But I don't think Sakic will just go out to market and sign or trade for a veteran who doesn't impact play positively just for the sake of having a d-man with experience.
