Replacing Brodie’s offense is not hard. We need a guy that can log minutes, make a good pass or skate the puck out, and let the forwards do their work.
Can Tanev do that?

So Tanev will be the sole addition to the top 4.
Leaving Kylington and Valimaki as the third pairing, as of today.
We don't know what the rest of the off season shakes out but uhhh, I can live with it if the contract is decent.

I'm a fan of Tanev, although he's struggled to stay healthy, no?
However, we still don't have a great option to quarterback the powerplay. We will still need that to be competitive. You must have good special teams these days or you might be outside the playoff picture.

He shoot right I think, so bonus there.
He's a good defenseman, but not one you want to overpay either. Of course, UFAs are typically overpaid, but you don't want to over-overpay I guess.

This tells me Brodie took a discount for Toronto and then we had relatively few options.
This is probably more of a Hamonic replacement.
