I'm really happy to see Jusso Valimaki doing well. In my opinion, he is the only Flames defenceman that has the upside to be an heir-apparent to Giordano.
Andersson is closest to Valimaki in terms of upside.
Hanifin and Kylington are still young, but I'm not sure they have the intelligence, although they both have great tools.
I think Jeremie Poirier might also have the upside, but I don't know enough yet.

I am quietly optimistic that we may have a superstar defenseman. That would be absolutely huge for this team if he ends up on the level of a Heiskanen. For now though, excited to have a top dman as a prospect.

I have really hard time at being patient with my Välimäki-expectations, because he's clearly playing in a wrong league. He's too good at being a complete D-man in Liiga. Awesome at defence. He instructs and gives directions to his teammates with his stick, speaks a lot, joins attacks with that nice skating ability, and rips the puck, when necessary. And is also capable of being physical. Can't wait to see him again in C of Red!

You can definitely watch them online, but it might be all in Finnish and require a VPN. I can look into that tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I think some people might be interested to know that a few SM-liiga games will be available for free this season, and the next one of those is actually going to be Ilves against it's local rival Tappara this Friday at 18:00 Finnish time. That's 9AM Calgary time. You don't have to watch the game live, it will remain available for something like 2 weeks. Play by play in Finnish
