Leafs get a 1st and no cap back?

Kapanen might explode with Pittsburgh, but that's a good return for what Kapanen is right now.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
TOR D prospect Jesper Lindgren also going to PIT. Sounds like a first-rounder is key part of return. TOR clearing space

If Kapanen gets a mid first then line up the dump truck for a Gaudreau trade

Here is to hoping that Johnny Regular Season gets us a massive haul.

Interesting... so he was drafted by Pit, traded to Leafs, and now he's being traded back.

As opposed to Kapanen's deadly 7 points over 25 playoff games and 36 regular season points?

Rodrigues is RFA. Might be the Leafs don't qualify him.

Rob Rossi @Real_RobRossi
Details for Penguins:
RW Kasperi Kapanen
D Jesper Lindgren
LW Pontus Aberg

Maples Leafs getting:
2020 Rd 1 pick (15 overall)
LW Evan Rodrigues
C Filip Hallander
D David Warsofsky

Leafs clearing space to give Brodie a fat contract

Hallander is a decent F prospect in Sweden. A 2nd rounder a couple of years ago. He's had some unfortunate injury issues. He has more of a 200 ft game than a slick offensive game. He had dropped from Pittsburgh's best F prospect to 3rd or 4th according to some.

I cannot believe the Leafs are getting the 15th overall for Kapanen.

Hallander isn't much of a prospect, but he was probably top 5 in Pitts system. Rodrigues, I wonder if the Leafs even qualify him?

Can’t blame Pittsburgh for giving up futures to try to win now as Crosby and Malkin are most likely going to start to slow down before that 15th OA pick becomes a productive member of their team.

Just interesting that Kapanen is the best they could do for that pick.

Kap is only 24, he could be around for quite awhile.

That's a great trade for Toronto. Probably make a run at Pietrangelo now

Kapanen > 15th Overall, generally. His contract is aces too. Now this is an excellent draft, so the cap-space plus the strong prospect is likely worth it so long as you use that cap-space properly.

If it ends up being used on Brodie, this is a great move by Toronto.

Seems like a great trade for Toronto at first glance.
