Being kicked out of the playoffs in the first round or not making the playoffs has been a second home to me?
"My family loves it there"...there, not here?
"My girlfriend likes being there"....again, not here?
And I hate the use of the word "comfortable" on garbage day. That right here might be the problem.

I think you're reading too much into his choice of words.
Although, I did pick that out too.

Taking a while to get to 5000

I'm thrilled they all get along, but I'd rather there be a bit of contention among them and they used that to drive one another and win. Cause right now, it isn't working.
Days like today are empty to me. Everyone says what we want to hear, maybe throw in some cliches, and tries to re-assure us that the team is 100% and will learn from this etc.
Its all crap.

If he views Talbot/Rittich as the tandem he's been looking for, and Hall as the winger he's tried to acquire every season for the last 3 years - I think he'll keep the team together, including Johnny if the flight risk is reduced, and make his final push with the group.
If he does keep things together and tries to add to it my biggest hope is that Gaudreau and Monahan are split up. I think Monahan needs to get away from pretending he's some finesse finisher and get on with grinding and battling for pucks and I'm not sure he does that with Johnny on his wing.
|
I actually think that makes acquiring Hall that much more critical. Tkachuk with Monahan is too slow but if the Flames add Hall he brings speed and is similar to Johnny in that he likes to carry the puck and is a solid playmaker.
Do the Flames really try and give Bennett a huge opportunity and center a line that includes Johnny on his wing?

Re-sign Rieder for the 4th line, promote an AHL kid. Trade Ryan if needed.
|
If the Flames do this I would really hope they do something different in net. Get a goalie that can bail out that poor blueline like Helleybuck did for the Jets this year. Lehner would be perfect but Holtby might be the only realistic guy. No lock he is better than Talbot either.
I do think if they go expensive on a starter a team that is looking to do a tandem would have interest in Rittich.
Ryan and Rittich would probably be a package the Oilers would love to get

Agreed I thought he was playing his last games as a flame but he was so good during those playoffs that you hate to lose that player.
The last kick at the can would be giving him a long look up the middle and with some solid wingers. Maybe he plays with Johnny and Dube next year?

That’s true. I’ve never heard a member of the kkk start off a sentence with that. Maybe we’re the ones who’s are truly racist.

To be honest is the same as saying “Like” or”I guess”. It’s all filler, and. Way to start a sentence.

To be honest some people are reading too deep into verbiage. I guess, many have their narratives, and just let confirmation bias colour their perception of every word. Like, you know, it's a bit of a reach for these interviews.

To be honest, I think dissecting language like this is pointless. Honestly, who cares? To be honest, I never find this sort of thing distracting at all unless I'm looking for a reason to be annoyed. Honest!

And another thing, why the hell do you need a sticker with your name on it on your forehead?!?!?!
I don't think anyone should have anything negative to say about Bennett after these playoffs. I hope the team finally realizes what they have in this kid and give him a real shot at C with some line mates who can play. And if he brings old Lucic back, he's proving his worth even more. Kid's a beast.

Bennett definitely hasn't earned to be ahead of Backs or Mony in the regular season, but he has definitely earned the right to be the "3rd" line centre. I think the key for the way this roster is constructed is to build 3 scoring lines. I think that has to be the goal if they aren't blowing it up, and that Tree has been trying (and failing) to do that for years. If we bring in the depth to be able to structure it so Gaudreau and Bennett play on a line together - then that's huge. That means we have top end depth, and we can win with that.
Hell - think about how poor our depth is right now. We lost Tkachuk and we ended up with Rieder on our top line - and he did as good a job as can be expected (and I hope we re-sign him), but we won't win with that being the reality of our depth.

Is anyone else concerned that we've heard from all the other big names who aren't in Europe or pending UFAs, but nothing from Tkachuk yet?

If Johnny really is open to staying, you keep him and figure it out.

This is basically more of the same but more expensive. A costlier first round exit. Hall is not the answer.
