A Calgary kid and a late bloomer who carved out a very good NHL career. Sending him to Mulletville at the end was a bit of an insult, but no harm no foul.
I remember reading a story about how started hockey late and basically learned to skate backwards in one day, and was skating laps around the other kids by the end of the day.

Mike Green was traded to the Oilers for F Kyle Brodziak and a conditional 4th round pick in 2020 entry draft (would have been the 2021 entry draft if the Oilers made the conference finals with Green playing 50% of games).
Brodziak and 2020 4th for 2 games in an Oilers uniform? Not worth it.

Congrats on the retirement. My buddy is good friends with Mike. Got to meet him a couple times in the offseason when he'd be in town. I begged him to join the Flames when he was with the Caps and he'd always laugh at me and say someone needs to take care of OV. I really tried to get him in his prime CP, I really did.
Great dude who cost the Oilers a draft pick to acquire, only to play 2 games for them. Hope I get to see him again to thank him for doing that.

FYP.
Green got hurt after 2 games and was out as long as 4 weeks (Oilers doctors wouldn’t have let him be out more then 3 is my guess), at the very end of Feb, so it’s conceivable that if the injury didn’t heal and it was delayed past the first week of April, he’d not have played more than 2 games.
