Figure a goalie out after one game?
I do question the choice as well. Smith vs Talbot would have been entertaining.

Getting five shorthanded goals would be nice though.

That's a different argument, I think. The Oilers top two most expensive NHL players and their contracts are a big part of why the entire rest of their roster is a comedy show. The Flames are a much deeper, more balanced team. But down two players, and win the game. It's precisely what the Flames did last time.

Coilers should be a bit tired from their trip. Flams better not come out looking tired and lazy.

Even Denis Morel sitting in dark room can tell you it’s glove side.

Kostinem has won two games in five starts v. the Flames; one of which was the meaningless last game of the 2019 season in which Calgary scratched two of their top-line centre, and their #2 LW.

Surprisingly, the question was from Spector, not Principe.

I don't understand the sentiment that people should boo ex players because they didn't work out. Its not like they wanted to tank their value so much that only the Oilers out of the entire league wanted them. It didn't work and that's unfortunate but I'm not seeing how that makes them villains. Especially Smith for saving the Flames from a historic ass whooping by the Avs in PO. If he didnt stand on his head it might have been the most lopsided shameful playoff series loss
in the teams history.

James Neal is treated like a villain because he is one.

Oh jeez..play the Neal highlight reel from his time in calgary. t will only delay the game 30 seconds or so. Most of the fans won't even notice it was on the Jumbotron, just like when he was a flame.

Same. I got nothing against Smith. Thought he did a decent job overall. But #### him, he's a filthy 0iler now.

He just sucks. I'm sure if he could pump in 40 goals again he would have. It wasn't a fit. It doesn't make someone a whiner or mopey when they know something isn't working. Best of luck to you in future it didn't work have a nice life I say. I hope the org treats guys with respect in their exit interviews the Flames should be classy with players on the way in and out. Not throwing shade just talking in general. The team already has enough issues attracting players.

Let's be fair to poor Dave Tippet. Starting an Oilers goalie will always be a "questionable decision."

The Flames didn’t give Darryl Sutter any acknowledgement when he came back first time as the Kings coach after leading the Flames within 3 inches of the Stanley Cup. Instead, the pompous former GM decided to pat himself on the back and unbelievably have a welcome back Mike Cammalleri peice during the first stoppage of that game instead, since he was reacquired two days before. Looked it up, almost 8 years ago to the day in 2012.
If that’s the standard, (it isn’t, because our GM was an arrogant ass) then no one gets a trip down memory lane...if either of them, it would be Smith as he was here two years.

There is a lot more to it than Neal's on-ice performance and the organisational "fit." I don't think anyone ever suggested booing Kris Russell or Alex Chaisson once they signed with the Oilers. There are good reasons why Neal is regarded differently.
