Good stuff, minus some arguing at the end.
Keep the suggestions coming. I will be going to Budapest with my gf 2nd week of June. Plan to visit Vienna and some places in Croatia.

I can only assume you struck out.

Was in Croatia last year, and the women and people in general were like their country.

Breathtaking.

I personally preferred Salzburg to Vienna if you only have time for one Austria stop. Budapest is a must see. You'll love it. I took the bus in the wrong direction there once. That place gets interesting fast once you leave the city center.

I can't say from my own experiences that you're wrong, I simply have to rely on people I've met and known in real life.

Kind of along the same lines that most Flames fans here at work turned red with anger when they heard trade Bartschi talk was actually happening (even if it was only 1 guy who made such a crazy thread). There's always someone on the internet who has an opinion that others find a little out there.

hmmm so you just bandwagoned jumped on the whole Serb thing......sad

Back on topic.

If you want a good party town in Italy go to Rimini, lots of bars but you gotta pay for beach access.

Oh, and it hasn't been mentioned yet, but check out Kloster Andechs near Munich:

Unfortunately I'll be coming back to Calgary on the 20th. But thanks for the offer.

Rimini is a complete hole. Save your money and just go to Mexico when you are back, same thing. For something in more northern Italy, I'd go Cinque Terre:

Or if you want to hit NE Italy instead, Verona/Venice.

Just realized that I'll be in Munich during the UEFA Champions League final. I'm pretty excited for this. Anybody know what the chances are that I can get tickets from scalpers and approximate cost?

1. Zero
2. A billion

In seriousness, I learned at Euro Cup that by far the best time to buy tickets was right before the game outside the stadium. No clue how Champions League tickets work, but if it is similar, that is my experience. I could have saved probably $800 buying them right before the game. And saved another $1500 if FedEx didn't lose a set

Considering Bayern is in the final I would expect you'd have to sell a number of organs to afford tickets. Over 1 million Bayern fans put in requests for the teams official allotment.

It looks like the online brokerages are selling them for around 1100 euros and up.

Dubrovik along the Adriatic coast in Croatia. My parents and cousins have all gone and it's their favourite place in Europe.

Not sure if covered in the thread, but mentioned by the OP was Dresden.

A great city to visit and often overlooked. Spent much time in all the other places mentioned, but I think they have been well covered in this and other threads.

Dresden, like most German cities, suffered greatly in WWII. Perhaps Dresden was destroyed as much as any other German city. Won't derail with that history, but I am sure most know what happened there.

A must see is the Zwinger. If not just for the architechture then certainly for the artwork within. Very good museum. Nearby in the center is the Frauenkirche, another good sight. Last time I was there they were still reconstructing it, I think for the city's 1000 anniversary. Could be wrong.

We were lucky to meet up with a recently unemployed university professor. He took us on a very detailed tour of his city, and put us up for two nights at his family's house. All it cost us was two devastating nights of hard drinking.

I agree with you on San Marino. Outstanding place to visit.

I much preferred the beaches et al north of Venice (Lido di Jesolo) to those at Rimini. Just so much to do at Jesolo.

Is that why he is unemployed?
