I have a buddy who's a bigger LEGO fan than I am...and would absolutely love this, but he's been down on his luck for quite some time, and there is no way in the world this sort of thing would be on his radar. I intend(ed? now?) to get it for him as a gift.

I went to the Chinook store. The mall opened at 6am. I was there at 7:20. I got the last one of the 22 they had for VIP release. I asked the clerk when people got there this morning, and he said that security had told him that the first dozen showed up around 4am...

This is how you get it. In it's shipping box with a handle and wheels attached. 30lb of LEGO goodness.
The actual box. It's huge.

See, CC...I'd love to build something like that. No idea where I'd keep it or what I'd do with it after, though. I would need the pieces and instructions, though...I admit I just don't have the imagination or drive to make something like that myself.

But I'd love to BUILD it.
Just reading through it, he did create a smaller model with instructions and posted them on youtube.
There are some amazing custom builds and not just Star trek, there's a Nimitz Class aircraft carrier that has to be about 15 feet long.

So how long is it going to take to sort through all of the parts?
Presumably the bags are numbered and correlate to specific parts of the build, but still---there are going to be a lot of gray parts and sorting them all for building is probably going to take a while.
