And for those keeping track the players on NHL deals that didn't get called up:
Rychel, Pollock, Peluso, Healey, Nielsen, Taormina.
Rychel and Peluso are known to have season ending surgeries previously
Taormina was last described as week to week.
McDonald and Schneider are still with KC in the ECHL.

Nice, so everyone with a contract has been called up besides Pollock, Healey, Taormina, Nielsen, Schneider, McDonald, and the injured Rychel and Peluso.

I really don't know the rules around this stuff anymore. Are they allowed to play?

Yes. Because Stockton's season is over the Flames can bring as many players on to the NHL roster as they want.

If the farm team players can outplay the players on the major league club, why not?

Well it would be pretty weird if the league allowed them to be called up but not allowed to play.

Honestly Lomberg is just the guy to insert in the line up. His game is built for the playoffs just a little firebug who gives 110 percent. I’m sure not everyone agrees but that tenacity he brings is contagious.

Well they can always practice and feel what it's like to be in a SC series.

Sorry, maybe I'm missing a few braincells, but why are they called Black Aces? Cursory google only yields links to today's call-up....

The term “Black Aces” originally had a negative hockey connotation. It originated with the legendary Eddie Shore, who purchased a minor league team in 1940, and began to refer to spare roster players by that term in reference to the bad omen that superstitious card players believe comes about from being dealt the ace of spades. Shore said that the team was in bad shape if it had to use its Black Aces in a game, especially during the playoffs.
Over the years, however, Black Aces have come to have a much more positive meaning; more akin to an “ace up the sleeve” that a hockey team can draw upon to help win a game in times of adversity
