Don't over think this. Brodie-Gio gives them the best chance to win.

Brodie is the convenient whipping boy but the Hanifin-Hamonic pair was pretty brutal last game and by far the most exposed. Gio also had an awful giveaway on a 4v3 as bad as anything Brodie has done from his blue line. Fantanen was also not remotely good, which had little to do with his partner.
I have confidence Valimaki, Brodie, and Andersson will do their jobs tonight. Hanifin-Hamonic will need to show up otoh.

If we pulled out everyone who was bad last game we'd only be playing with 5 regulars.

With all the gushing over Makar, NBCSN didn't have a lot of time to mention Valimaki, but he was outstanding. He must never sit again.

Put a no trade clause on this kid. He is a keeper for sure.

I thought Valimaki looked great, especially considering it was his first playoff game. Always poised, physical and making good decisions and pinches.
He's a keeper.

Why do people say this? The only person who benefits from a no trade clause is the player, not the team.

Valimaki showed why BT wouldn’t part with him this deadline. As much as this team needs a player like Stone, long term we’ll be happy we kept Valimaki and BT looked for other options to improve the skilled grit on this team up front.

Not necessarily. NTC usually come with extended term and/or reduced AAV

Very true! But that is exchanged for reduced asset value if you do want to move on from the player, as you never get full value for the asset, due to the player control on location (obviously).
Point being, people seem to think locking in players to NTCs is something the team should do with important pieces because it means we won’t lose them, when a team obviously doesn’t have to trade a player if they don’t want to, and an NTC doesn’t actually lick the player to the organization at all.

Valimaki waS NOT talked about enough last night. Kid came in and had one hell of a game. Super impressed, His time out of the lineup as a flame is over.

Maybe the poster more meant, "Put that kid in the untouchable category"

Yup. To step in and play that way when the rest of the team is floundering showed real leadership. Just an awesome performance. Really excited about his potential.

I did not expect Valimaki Andersson to look so much better than Hanifin and Hamonic so soon.
Even if the HH pairing didn't have a godawful game I still think the youngster rookie pairing edges them out.

Yup I agree, Rasmus and Valimaki both seem to have better poise than Hamonic and Hanifin. Frankly, the second pairing has been a complete tire fire all series. I would bump them down for the next game, some people on here have thought Hamonic has played well but all I’ve seen is him puck watch and block shots. Very reminiscent to Kris Russell. He should have been better, Hanifin has also been a mess and has not jumped into the rush once. He’s been a complete non factor on offence and for a Dman that skates as well as he does it’s bizarre. He looks scared and has no confidence carrying the puck . Brodie has gotten tons of flack but Hamonic and Hanifin have been just as poor.

Giordano, Hamonic, Backlund, Lindholm, Hanifin, and Tkachuk lead the team in goals allowed.
Basically out of our top defensive players, Frolik is pretty much the only one that has delivered, everyone else has just been outmatched in their matchups.
The fourth line is the only offensive line on the plus side. Not surprising really.
Fantenberg actually got replaced without allowing a single goal against. Obviously it was good to bring Välimäki in, but I think it might be worth considering to sit Hanifin instead.
