That’s a crazy deal and I like it for New Orleans.
Zion
Lonzo Ball
Jrue Holliday
Brandon Ingram
Julius Randle
Josh Hart
4th overall pick
2 other Lakers 1st rounders.
That’s a lot of pieces to make up the start of a good young core around Zion.

If Ingram can come back from the blood clots that will be a pretty nice rotation.

The newly crowned NBA champion Toronto Raptors, who won the title in Oakland, California, on Thursday night, apparently are having too good of a time celebrating in Las Vegas. Expected back in Toronto on Saturday, most instead are staying an additional night in Sin City.
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which owns the franchise, said the Raptors extended their trip and will return to Toronto in time for a victory parade and rally in the city on Monday, a spokesperson told TSN.

The way the NBA is with super teams and with Kawhi wanting to be in LA, I'm kind of expecting him to take the last max spot on the Lakers now. They need a point guard more but he's way better than Kyrie. His priorities are wanting to be in California to be closer to family and winning. Lebron's been tampering/recruiting him in the playoffs.
And the Clippers will probably be good for a while when the Lebron starts declining and the Lakers have a barren cupboard in 3 years or so but for now, they have zero chance of winning.
Also man the Lakers kind of had to pay whatever price but that is a good haul for NO for a guy with only one year left to free agency I think?

I guess I'm glad the Lakers are taking back their rightful place as the most hated team in sports. Hating the Warriors wasn't fun, if they never got KD they would be tough to hate because they play the right way and would have been built from the ground up. I don't see Kawhi going to the Lakers though, board man likes life lowkey and being on the biggest circus in the league ain't his style. It also wouldn't be shocking if the Pelicans are better than the Lakers sooner than later, the Lakers are gonna have a garbage bench in the West. LeBron could get away with that in the East, but it's a lot harder out West.

Ingram getting healthy is key here, he looked very promising before that injury.

I'm glad that LA once again got absolutely stripped of any depth and future picks in that deal. Rich Paul and Lebron get away with everything back end dealings they do, and I really hope that team sucks for all ages. Declining Lebron will still have the same attitude and I hope they self destruct under that pressure. Should be interesting to see if New Orleans can deal a bunch of those guys for upgrades. Should be a strong team in a year or two.

Details about the Lakers picks, which came out later:
No 4 in 2019
Top 8 protected in 2021 (becomes unprotected in 2022)
Unprotected swap in 23
Unprotected pick in 24
Unprotected swap in 25
Betting on the Lakers being bad again in 4-6 years when Lebron is 38-40 and probably retiring is a solid bet. Lakers are going to be going all-in on a championship window over the next 3 years.

Don't the Pelicans now flip the 4th overall in some sort of package for another good player so that they're competitive in year 1? Maybe put something together for Beal?

AD apparently will not waive his trade bonus, so the Lakers do not have the space for another max player. Which is probably a blessing in disguise because they need to fill out their roster more than they need another star. But it is the Lakers so those role players will probably be Rondo and Beasley and Kyle Korver.

Company is allowing us to attend for a bit. Should be memorable if anyone would be able to see anything whatsoever. You never know if another Toronto team will do it in our lifetime so it’ll be a great memory.

The amount of people at this parade is unbelievable. SN suggesting that as many as 2 million along the route.
