Copa America isn't really a major tournament - Change my mind

That said, I think Messi still has to do something worthwhile at the World Cup for him to truly shake his reputation in internationals. This certainly isn't nothing (esp vs. Brazil), but it is nothing compared to the World Cup.

TSN'S feed which was pulled from Fox was not near the quality of the Euro feed. It was a wild game though compared to the Euro games. Teams were very aggressive.

well, it is what it is...the World Cup is going be held in higher esteem than anything else.

Copa has a long history in SA though, and winning in Brazil is pretty huge for Argentina. Happy for Messi to win something at the senior level, even if it is a step below the WC and the Olympics (presumably)

It would be better if Mexico and the USA (and some of the other carribean countries) were a part of Copa though...and Canada if they ever get up to that level

I watched almost all of the Euros and the match last night between Argentina and Brazil was ten times more entertaining than even the best match from Europe.

Copa America is the oldest tournament in the World. It precedes the World Cup. It's a major tournament win for Messi. Maradona and Pele never won the Copa America.
