I'm hoping so. Would be nice to see him again after a full year in a pro setup. Could be similar to Sean Rea at Valour. Doesn't play too much in year one, returns on loan and dominates his second year!
I was really impressed with his physical skills. Cavalry especially were hurting for a player who could move the ball up field on the ground. Last season they depended too heavily on 50/50 air balls.
IMO Simmons' departure is the only one I am surprised by and disappointed in. I wonder if he has a significantly better offer from another club to be a consistent starter, for some reason it seemed Tommy never really leaned into him in midfield.
Bummed about Adekugbe leaving but I had a feeling he might shift from playing soccer to his music career, plus he was depth so I somewhat expected this.
Yao and Assi were loan players so it was always likely they wouldn't be back. Yao in particular, he's good enough for MLS and it's time to test that.
In an attempt to not #### on players, I will wish Di Chiara, Field, Novak, Norman best of luck wherever they end up. But I will state I am happy to see all four leave.

Thought Simmons had some potential but never seemed to really take hold as a starter like Loturi did when given the chance. Wouldn’t have minded to keep him, but I think players at his level are relatively plentiful.
Seems apparent to me this team has serious issues in the middle of the pitch, and starting over with just Charlie Trafford (and maybe Camargo?) and rebuilding the CM is a good opportunity to get it right and build this team right for this league. Team never looked quite right after losing Buscher and the Foothills advantage is long gone.
Yao is a huge loss, but expected. The others are largely depth players that I feel can be upgraded. I wouldn’t mind seeing Assi again, but Cavs have a ton of wing options as is. I’d be looking at Brown and Mavila if available, but a top box to box CM has to be priority 1, and a reliable stay at home CB to partner Klomp right after that.
- Player salary cap up $175k to a maximum of $1.125 million.
- Player salary floor up $100k to $750k.
- Minimum salary of $30k a year, up 36%.
- First $200k of salary on under 21 players counts at 50%.
CPL increasing the salary cap by 18.5% and the minimum salary by 36% is a massive development, and a sign that ownership is willing to open their wallets once something resembling a sustainable model is achieved. I cannot see how there is any downside to this news.
Something I've wondered once or twice and have no idea of the answer... do Cavs players (and other players at this level) have day jobs outside of football? If the min salary was that low, they must right?

Yeah they definitely do. Even a guy like Bekker has an actual job, and he’s likely one of the better paid players in the league.

The way it should be!
Man, I have so many fond memories of Stampeders as substitute teachers and such.
I even worked with a few Stamps when I was at Greyhound. That was wild.

CIBC will be the main jersey sponsor for Vancouver FC, and the shirt sleeve sponsor for all CPL clubs. Good to see more money invested in the game. This is the type of investment that helps raise the salary cap.
