Think he's a winger, but the release says he can play attacking mid as well. So it's looking like Escalante and Luca on the wing, and Camargo in attacking mid. Hopefully Minatel and Pasquotti can recover from injury for depth. It sounds like Minatel is recovering quite well. Pasquotti's will be a little slower as its an ACL.
Now to sign some forwards and defenders.

Forge is absolutely imploding against Marathon tonight. Down 1-0 late. Bekker just got a straight red for a disgusting two footed challenge. Edgar should’ve been sent off for a kick out just before halftime but somehow managed to avoid a card at all
They got sucked into stupid things by Marathon and it’s been entertaining. I don’t know why Canadian teams continue to play CONCACAF teams and get caught out by their antics. It happens every time

Smyrnionis got sent off at the end too. Such an embarrassment from Forge to end the match. When your manager and captain get sent off I can see how they lost their heads, weak mentality from the top down

Only watched the first half of last night's game, and while Marathon did not look great, Forge looked absolutely terrible. Edgar looked like someone who was playing his last game and wanted to take a piece of Honduran flesh to get even for all the important games in Honduras that he lost.
Marathon were definitely doing the usual CONCACAF antics, but that should be expected in games like these. Also it is very satisfying to watch the CPL goalkeeper of the year and CPL player of the year implode in successive weeks.
Looking forward to watching TFC wipe the floor with Forge with a rotated squad whenever they decide to play that game.

If he can play midfield he could be a potential Camargo replacement if he is injury prone again next season.
I'm still hoping we add some goal scoring up top, and we still need help on the back end. Wings and midfield are set I think. The midfield is absolutely stacked.

I don’t even think Marathon did a whole lot of the usual CONCACAF antics, certainly not at the level we’ve seen in prior years. It feels like Forge was expecting them to do something and at any hint of it they just lost their heads. Edgar had some pretty sour grapes in his post game interview, so much for ending your career on a positive note.

Well, we have a new striker. Ahinga Selemani signed from a team in Gibraltar. Canadian born, played a game for the US U17 team and has been travelling around the world. Stops in Greece, Czech Republic, New Zealand and Gibraltar.

Well, it's a forward at least. Played at the same level as Jordan Brown in 2018-19, and actually scored at that level. Golden Boot in the New Zealand top flight in 2019-20.
Could be a decent signing? Not sure.

York 9 just rebranded to York United. I'm kind of indifferent to it.
Spoilered for size.

York 9 was a clunky name.
York United is better.

I like the crest. I'm not really on board with the jersey though.

I agree with you, but what exactly is uniting here?
I hate that NA teams all seem to pick names of the old/big European clubs.

I don't know why North American teams feel they need to add FC, United, Sporting, Real. It seems like a lame attempt at credibility. I think half the clubs in MLS are FC, without understanding what this really means. Many European clubs actually started as amateur football clubs.

we’re fairly certain the king of Spain isn’t a Real Salt Lake supporter

Agree. But FC and United are acceptable to me.
Real for an American team is so stupid though haha.

Years ago I was in Ecuador and went to see local match involving a team from Quito vs. Barcelona. I thought how lucky was I to see the famous Barcelona in a friendly in Quito. Turned out Barcelona was the name of a team from Guayaquil.
(The stadium was at high altitude and named after Inca Prince Atahaulpa. The fans of the two sides were separated by barbed wire, and were throwing garbage at each other. The refs had to come out of covered tunnels, because of the garbage throwing).

FC I can sort of see, but unless you're actually uniting a couple clubs or something, it's just marketing.

I tried to see a game when I was in Quito about 8 years ago. However it was during the Xmas holidays, there were no home games scheduled.

I happen to be in Melbourne when Melbourne Victory had a scheduled match against Sydney FC. This was when Alessandro Del Piero was playing with Sydney at the end of his career. We caught the match, and it was crazy because a huge contingent of the Italian community came out for the match, and even though he was on the opposing side, they were going absolutely nuts for him, including setting off smoke grenades and fireworks. Never seen anything like it live, it was amazing.

Were you there for New Years? NYE in Quito is amazeballs.
A big parade on the street, where people burned paper-mache effigies of political figures. All the revelers were wearing masks, and salsa danced the night away after the parade.
