Did Montgomery just disappear into thin air? I don’t see any mention of him anywhere in there
And Trafford. Would that mean contract negotiations are ongoing?

The bottom of the page says:
"The club is currently in several negotiations regarding both contract extensions and new additions with updates to follow accordingly."
So I imagine they're negotiating contracts with them at the moment.

Thanks, I completely missed that line
I’m in the bring back Montgomery camp as well, especially with Klomp wanting to go to MLS

My hope is Yao returns to the fold for this year in the eventual absence of Klomp to the MLS. Yao didn't work out with the Whitecaps, so perhaps he needs a CPL rebound season to get back in the big leagues.

I'd be shocked if Klomp is around at the start of the year. But MLS can be a tough league for internationals to get into, so who knows. I liked Montgomery last year but he did lose his starting place at the end of the year so I wouldn't be totally shocked to see him leave. As for Yao, could be a fit, it depends on where he would want to go.
I don't think there is room for all of Klomp, Montgomery and Yao given that they all have aspirations of moving up or back to MLS. Kobza was a good fit at CB as well. Then a spot for a youngster and away we go.
The real surprise to me is Smith-Doyle not coming back. I thought he had some real promise, and with Mason's departure there could have been a chance for a greater role. IMO if other CPL clubs want to buy low on a good young talent he'd be a good fit.

Kobza will be fun to watch this upcoming year. If last year was any indication, bet he turns into an absolute diamond in the CPL.

I am still gutted. I can't lie, it hurts me to think about the Cavs.

As for the other players who are out of contract or departing. Joe Mason and Udoka Chima; good riddance. Liked Alarcon but there just wasn't room for him as an international. I imagine we'll see Sterling Kerr pop up in League1.
Think Cavalry should sign Trafford to a 1 year extension and see how he does. 2022 Trafford looked like he was close to retirement but 2023 Trafford was really good. Would love to see both Aird and Fisk back. I know Fisk has a front office role in the offseason so that plus some real stability on the pitch could be a good reason to stay. Aird is solid on the
Really curious to see what we do with the backup GK spot. Apparently Holliday is pretty highly rated, and only turns 19 next month. Wouldn't be surprised to see him sign as backup, but it may also be better to have him on a Dev contract and playing heavily in League1.

We need a backup goalkeeper who can play 4-7 matches throughout the year and push Marco a bit. We need to get someone on the pitch in case, God forbid, Carducci gets hurt. Can’t reliably trust him to play every match every season
I’ve also heard Holliday is highly regarded, perhaps he’s that guy.

Not thrilled to see Camargo back. I’m sure he’s a good dude and everything, but he just doesn’t have a lot to offer.

Camargo was fantastic last year. I am thrilled he is back. If he can stay healthy, which he did last year, he is key to our attack.

I actually think that having Camargo healthy all year was a major contributor to the team's success this year. He had 6 goals and 2 assists. I personally think his presence in the #10 spot opened things up for Musse and Ntignee on the wings. He's the creative midfielder we've lacked when he was so often injured the previous two seasons.

I think Camargo was pleasantly not terrible, but he’s 29 and it’s time to move on. Players like Musse and Bevan were the ones carrying the load.

Sean Rea got released by Montreal. That’s a guy I’d offer a big contract to

Some good young Canadians released by Montreal. I guarantee Assi and Rea are in CPL next year. Don't know if there's a spot for Rea with Camargo and Henry both playing well last year. Unless he would play on the wing or up top?
Pantemis and Brault-Guillard were also released. There isn't really a starting GK spot open anywhere for Pantemis and I imagine Brault-Guillard will head back to Europe.
Wish CPL paid a little better to be a more attractive option to those who didn't make it in MLS. It's a good opportunity for playing time but a big pay cut.

I think Assi will be in demand. He's a U-21 player who logged a lot of minutes with Ottawa last year and showed a good deal of improvement from his first season in the league with the Cavs. There's definitely potential there and U-21 players who've proven they can handle the league are gold.
