Her mental fortitude is fantastic for someone so young, she had a bad service game in set 2 where she had four double faults, yet she put it behind her and just ran her opponent into the ground in the third set.

Denis still has to play a doubles match later today with Bopanna as they take on PopSock.

Well, that's pretty disappointing. That said, you can't be playing 5 hour long matches in the 2nd round and expect to make much of a run at Roland Garros, so even if Denis would have pulled this one out, it didn't bode well going forward.

I was stuck in a meeting and couldn't watch Shapo but following along on the score, man that is a tough loss. He's still young but it would be nice to see some more success and consistency from him.
Hands up if you had Bouchard making it further than both Felix and Shapo.

It's women's tennis, Bouchard can win the whole thing.

It would have been pretty amazing if Denis would have won while committing 109 unforced errors.

So true, speaking of which Ostapenka beat the #2 seed Pliskova rather easily today.

If I'm reading this correctly, winning one more round will have her close to the top 100, and winning the whole tournament will have her close to the top 20?

This is the love/hate relationship with Clay in a nutshell. Watch a couple highly ranked players go at it and it's great, but there are so many players like RCB that just hang on by doing as little as possible and end up getting rewarded. Meanwhile you have players throwing everything at them until finally hitting an error. It is what it is - Painful tennis.
