This looks to be the first year I'll be getting any berries as well. And a lot. I don't know if that's what's attracted the pests.

Anybody know what these are? Will that BT caterpillar bacteria liquid rid the plants of them?

All I can find online is that hascap bushes aren't supposed get pests.
My haskcaps have the exact same thing this year. My only idea is to spray with a light soap solution. Please tell me if you find anything that's effective.

This works quite well. Just be sure to rinse the tree/shrub really, really good after. And then do it again after. Otherwise you will burn the #### out of it.

The plants are at my mom's where I do the gardening, and I had a chance to check this morning and the BTK solution I applied on the weekend appears to have worked

Incidentally, I sought out a Haskcap Support group (or whatever - lol) on facebook and saw at least three others who've identified the same problem/pest in and around Calgary just this week. No answers what the insects actually were though. I haven't yet posted an inquiry as I don't have much info to add.

Here's the exact BT I used: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/s...-0593770p.html. They had it at Golden Acres - Canadian Tire and Home Depot were sold out everywhere. Wanted to try that first before going nuclear on all the other insects.

Looks like moth catterpillars. I'd guess a variety of leafroller moth, which is common in Alberta:

There's various sprays, some organic some not, that you can use.

I’ve never seen this before. We use birch logs for landscaping and some ants burrowed into one for a nest. We noticed it when we found what looked like sawdust at one end. That log is now in the fire pit.
