It was pretty brutal. They had a shaded picnic area with one table in it, so we used that to eat. For the hike through the Canyon...well, there was no shade and no wind. We were dripping in sweat when we finally made it back up, but a nice breeze cooled us back down.

a bunch of stuff changed recently here in bc with icbc. as a result, my truck insurance dropped about $400 (yea!). i talked to my insurance guy earlier in the week and for $407 i can insure my old truck for 5 months - basically summer time insurance! so today i went and insured my old truck - so pumped!! it hasn't been insured since 2015 (i have been starting it over the years and taking my kids for rides around our cul-de-sac).

my son is soooooooooooo excited - he can't wait to go for a ride in it. my '89 is only a 2-seater, so any car seat for the kids is in the front seat - this is a HUGE deal when you're 5! ha! ha! hoping to get it on the road this weekend!

a pic of "the trucks"...

Yeah didn't it go to no-fault?

Individuals have lost the right to pursue recovery for injuries.

Not really a "What really makes me happy" but more of a 'what really makes me laugh' but apparently last night someone stole all the shopping carts from Marlborough Walmart.

Well there’s a mediator, but yes, since ICBC is the only insurer, I guess they wanted to avoid the costs and times of a settlement.

BC car insurance is a disaster.

Shopping carts are worth a lot, but not sure what the market for used/stolen shopping is.

Decided that I was going to for a fun project hook up everything to smart devices, lights, thermostat, every thing using Google home and different google enabled devices. .

Got everything done today, and got it all working and connected so everything is on voice command except for my TV's. That might be next.

Suddenly I feel like Jean Luc Picard barking orders to my house, flipping lights on and off, changing colors in different rooms. changing the temperatures.

I need to find a smart coffee machine so I can make earl grey hot.

Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian Serb commander nicknamed the “butcher of Bosnia”, will spend the rest of his life in prison after a UN court dismissed his final appeal against convictions for genocide and crimes against humanity, in a judgment hailed as “historic” by the White House.

Good #### this piece of ####.

I'd be curious whether someone was running them through a metal recycler.

Otherwise, perhaps if some effort is put into getting them cleaned up and fixed up (mainly new plastics and wheels), then sold as new in some other province/city/town (still way cheaper than a brand new one).

The return might be enough to fund a good sized shed in a trailer park.

I am 100% comfortable judging him and other (on all sides) in that conflict.

I fully believe there were many many others that should have stood trial that didn't.

I've been really working on the strength this pandemic and yesterday, I managed to deadlift three sets of 295lbs for three reps each. That's probably the most sustained level of heavy lifting that I have managed this year.

You can pick up 295lbs but you can't pick up the tab!

My one rep max is actually 350lbs but somehow that tab was even heavier.

My wife is a high school teacher for the Catholic system. She works so incredibly hard to make sure her kids are getting the best education they can. She puts in long hours after school and leads a bunch of school-wide initiatives to help build their community, diversity and inclusiveness.

She can be tough with her students but it comes from a place of wanting to see them succeed beyond high school.

She received this letter from one of her students today and to say I'm proud would be an understatement. It's great to see she's appreciated.
