There is a special event for Aeroplan Members going on this evening at 5:00PM MT, where it's meant to be a member exclusive interview with Darryl Sutter.
Looks like the exclusivity is just an unlisted Youtube link, so figured I might as well share it here as well.
Figured there might be some interesting insight to Sutter's first 14 games as head coach of this team.
-Tough going from coaching a veteran team that had won, to dealing with a younger team that has a nucleus of under 27 year old's. Tough trying to learn about them, and to get to know the players with limited practice time and personal time due to the pandemic restrictions.
- Likes to be able to coach 1:1 but difficult to do due to the restrictions and how and where you can meet due to the pandemic.
- Lots of star power in the division...Flames haven't held up their end of the bargain in the division. Gives him shivers to talk about the stars within the division and thinking about how good those players are.
- To win a Stanley Cup you still might lose 12 games in the playoffs and only go 16-12. This team needs to learn how to win and how to bounce back from losses.
- Feel like Sutter thinks the Leafs will win the cup
- 2004 team was more experienced and more blue collar, this 2021 team is more skilled and talented
- Current teams greatest strength is that we are very fortunate to have Gio as captain, both on and off the ice & 5-6 young players (around Tkachuks age or younger) that are going to be very good players for this team if we are patient.
- Trait from being a farmer that you wish all your players had: Work together and do it right, and you'll have more time play.
- 102 baby cattle on the farm since April 1st
- Rittich is the funniest player in the dressing room, Markstrom has a good dry sense of humor. Players are all still pretty quiet around him, so need to work on that.

She's probably getting 12 "wtf is happening with this team" questions for every "what's your favourite colour" question... but we're only getting the colour ones.

Yeah they are for sure filtering any of the questions about the current team.
Only real question was asking about the teams biggest strengths, and the answer being Giordano & the team having 5-6 young players around Tkachuks age that will be real good players if we remain patient.
Interesting for two reasons:
1) That leaves Johnny, Monahan, & Lindholm out of that group as as they are all older.
2) Then we get to guess on the 5-6 players, my take:
- Tkachuk, Hanifin, Mangiapane, Andersson, Valimaki, Dube - thats the 24 and under group on this roster

...this is literally a farmer who travels thousands of miles a year. He's a carry-on, aisle guy. Get on the plane, get off the plane. Why would anyone really expect him to be all about looking out the window and taking forever to get off the plane and then standing at a baggage carousel for an hour and a half?
Like... the only thing worse than softball questions are stupid softball questions.

The difference between Monahan and Tkachuk is 3 years, Mangiapane is 1 year younger than Lindholm and Monahan
They are in that group
