Check out yyc Pet Recovery on Facebook. You can also reach out to the Calgary North Vet clinic who can check for any microchips.

Haha, that was quick.
Does Calgary have a no euthanization policy for lost or abandoned pets?

Yes, if they are healthy and not overly aggressive

It was either leave him in my garage until I find an owner or take him somewhere that could figure it out. This was 2 dogs in 2 days finding me working in my garage. At least yesterdays owner had the sense to put their phone number no the tag. This one had no tag, just a collar. Put your phone number on your dog, people! I reunited the first owner in 5 minutes.

You're not perchance running a small but illicit Chinese food restaurant out of your garage are you?

It was such a nice day, and I was hanging drywall. But ya, it seems to attract the mutts. That, or my cat.

Nice. Sorry if I was grinding your gears a little.
It was very nice of you to help out. Most people don't care that much, you're a good person.
I am glad that Calgary has a positive policy regarding lost pets.

I called 311 first, they said because it was Sunday, the best bet was to take it to the vet and the city would pick him up Monday. My hope is that the owner calls the vet clinic to see if anyone brought it in since it is the only one anywhere nearby, and that they could check to see if it had a chip to re-unite.

I love making that phone call:
- Are you missing a dog?
- I didn't think so, but seeing as you are calling me........

I have no idea why owners don't automatically put their phone numbers on their pets.
One day I was walking home and a tiny kitten, probably about 3 weeks old, started following me home. It was scurrying up and down trees as it followed me, but I managed to grab it. Thankfully it had a collar with a phone number. That thing would have been eaten alive by raccoons, coyotes, or other cats if I hadn't found it (this is Vancouver those animals are everywhere).
