That was way more thrilling and enjoyable to the 12yo boy in me than I'd have expected!

I hope they funnel more funds into space exploration.

They may not be as often as it used to, but American ingenuity still has those "#### around and find out" moments.

This NASA lady being interviewed has such a shaky voice. Probably just mainlining adreneline right now.

Awesome job! Missed it because I'm dumb and got my times mixed up but a great achievement once again. Science bitch!

I think the coolest part of this mission is its really the pioneering Mars rover that will help introduce rotocraft exploration (hover drones exploration).

With that kind of funding they should've programmed the rover to do a landing celebration dance. Show the martians we got swagger.

That was a fun stream.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but is there a time line set up for when the next mission will return the samples collected to Earth?

Landing on Mars in hard enough, but I imagine landing and taking off again is a whole new ballpark.

Did this rover not have any Earth trials to test its landing system? That would be a cool video to see.

I guess with different atmospheres- Earth trials wouldn't provide valuable data for the cost?

Can't find anything online

The lander uses Hydrazine which is extremely toxic and its NASA we are talking about here... they need to throw all their money into the ballooning budget of the James Webb telescope . I'm sure they did many tests in vacuum chambers on the thrusters and many of the systems in computer simulations.

Also, if they did do demo landing tests on Earth I'm sure everybody would be showing those clips before the actual landings instead of computer animations.
