One guy I know who went to the Canadian Grand Prix, changed his flight to fly to Ottawa at the last minute and take the train to Montreal. The guy he was going with d⁶idn't. He got there 22 hours earlier than the other guy.

Was just there. No issues with flight delays at all, either direction. Your mileage may vary. It’s unpredictable.

Go to the top of Mount Royal. The views are amazing. Walk up the steps from Peel st if you want a workout, otherwise take the bus (or an Uber) but I’d recommend you walk back down when done.

Good decision to take the beautiful one, leave the other one at home.

Definitely solid advice there.

I was just there last weekend so I'll add a couple of things:

- a patio is called a terrace no matter what language you're speaking (and it's usually pronounced the French way)

-I didn't have issues with check in or boarding at the airport but holy hell was the security line long. About an hour in the queue, so make sure you get there early.

-there's no shortage of amazing restaurants but I have to give Tuck Shop a plug. Good friend of mine works there and it was fantastic.

-Several streets are pedestrian only in the summer (St Laurent, Ave Mont Royal, Wellington, and a couple others) they are great places to hang out, walk around and find cool bars/shops/restaurants, watch street performers etc

-The metro is great for getting around and super easy to use. It goes everywhere you could want to go except for the airport

Have fun!

Get a lox and bagel from St Viateur Bagel. Probably my favorite snack on earth.

Go to the top Of Mount Royal and and enjoy the views. If you're healthy/fit, hike up it. It's great.

My wife and I have done two guided group bicycle city tours for an afternoon around the city with these guys. https://fitzmontreal.com/
It's so much fun, we highly, highly recommend it. You meet other people and see all the fun sports in Montreal. You don't have to be very fit at all.

I also recommend spending a morning or afternoon walking around old Montreal. They have great restaurants. We went to this Italian restaurant for a nice dinner one night. It was great.https://ristorantequattro.com/

Walk around St Catherin's street. It's great.

We stayed at this hotel one block off St Catherine's street. It was a a really good hotel in a great, walkable location for a great price. I would book there again.

Enjoy your trip. I really like that city.

Thank you for the great ideas and comments.

Sadly, my wife now has a new client meeting when I am in Montreal.

This trip remains a must do for us, so I've filed away your recommendations.
