Dragon Quest Monsters on Switch is great. Like, kind of janky and low budget, but damn it's addicting I've been playing every night.

Agreed with the jank, but I'm enjoying it. (Major DQ fan, but was super disappointed with Treasures and the Dai game had enough bad reviews for me to skip it).

I'm definitely not going fast. About 26 hours in and still in the middle echelons.

The Switch talk in the thunderdome thread had me doing some wishful thinking...hear me out:

Twilight Princess: Wii launch title, also on Gamecube
Breath of the Wild: Switch launch title, also on Wii U
Metroid Prime 4: Switch 2 launch title, also on Switch?

It could help explain the lack of any teasers in Nintendo Directs. If the Switch version looked and ran like Prime Remastered then I'd be a happy camper.

I feel like Prime 4 and Odyssey 2 (or a new Mario 3d game) will likely both be cross-platform at launch.

You can't make this up, a guy named Bowser owes Nintendo $14.5M for hacking the switch. It sounds like he was just a coordinator between different dev teams and facilitators and updating the website and not the ring leader but who knows what is true.

Also, the president of Nintendo of America is also named Bowser...

Nintendo and their legal team are asses when it comes to this thing. They pull this a lot.

RIP Yuzu.

Did people use Yuzu to play pirates games? Yes, but there were tons of people like me who use it to play those games on different platforms (PC, Steam Deck) often with higher performance.

Yuzu was taking in money via Patreon so it's arguable they were profiting off piracy, making them a target. Hopefully it continues on somehow. Ryujinx still exists but isn't as optimized.

Yuzu is open source, so it will definitely continue in some form

That's likely true but they had full-time developers so new games were supported at, or shortly after, release.

Any opinions on third party Switch docks? Best to avoid altogether?

Basically I want the option to take my Switch downstairs, and can't be arsed to pull furniture out, untangle cords, etc. The Nintendo-brand docks/w AC are $120!

It's been a while but I remember back in the old days that 3rd party docks had a risk of bricking the console. I haven't seen that in a while and it's probably not an issue any more? Not sure.

I've read good things about the Genki mini dock.

I got the previous model of this one a few years back and it hasn't given me any issues. Hopefully this current one is just as reliable. I was in the exact same scenario as you (along with the sticker shock!)

Huh, I didn't even know that this was a thing. A game cartridge switcher while the system is a dock. Useful if you're a physical game kind of person:
