Quietly a really good center group:
Turris
Johansen
Bonino
Boyle

Im led to believe that NSH is trying hard to acquire Simmonds as well.
Poile getting his work done early.

Assuming this deal is finalized, price will be NSH 2nd round pick in 2019.

2nd for Boyle seems a tad steep but he is a good playoff veteran.

A western rival gets slower. I'm ok with this.

Not bad. Though he's super old, he's putting up goals (not assists though). Adds a bunch of size.

Things that surprise me:
Brian Boyle is still around.
Brian Boyle is worth a 2nd round pick.

I thought Boyle would have been a nice fit on the Flames. All the same, they don't have a second rounder this draft, so it makes bringing in depth forwards a little more complicated.

Surprisingly he has 13 goals in 47 games this year so he's certainly not past his expiry date by any means. He's still a decent player that can play special teams in a pinch. The price may appear high, but considering where Nashville is at (2nd rounder = 50th OA ish) and the fact their window is now, I can understand why Poille would likely have been willing to up the ante.
Not a bad insurance policy add for a team that has been decimated by injuries this year.

Even if we had a 2nd, I would not have wanted to see it spent on Boyle. Which isn't to say I don't like the player. Just not for that price.
Nash has two thirds this year so that probably helped them feel OK but moving the 2nd.

Yeah a second would be steep. But as you brought up yesterday, Nashville, and Calgary are tracking to have very late picks. The Flames second would be a glorified 3rd.
Draft picks at this time of the year have a much more aliment value, not only is there a good idea of what range the pick will be, but teams are starting to associate names of potential prospects to picks.
