These two moves by Nashville are all about getting bigger to beat Winnipeg.

I think the Flames will need to add some size that can play. They haven't needed it yet, but in the playoffs, the game is completely different. They can even win a round or two with speed but eventually they will be worn out by the finals.

Assuming the Flames finish first and end up meeting St. Louis in the first round, the road through the west will be against all big teams (SJ, Vegas, Wpg, Nsh).

Some have harped on secondary scoring for the Flames but nice to see we've stopped up. Backlund's have a good season, Jankowski's lines are decent for third line and Ryan's game is rounding into form.

Funny thing about it is that I wouldn't trade any of our centers for any of theirs following those rankings, 1v1, 2v2 etc..

oh right, when MMF's next account was making two word posts to try so hard to not be outed as MMF.

This one's not even trying anymore.

I have no problem with the Flames picking up some depth players, but not at the cost of a second.

NAS did this to get bigger for their battle with WPG.

Wouldn't have wanted Treliving to give up a 2nd for him. But also, Ryan is a better player.

I really hope Tre does something before the deadline to address our lack of size for the Playoffs. I wouldn't have minded Boyle but we really do need to get someone

I hope we prioritize skill. Size is one way you can win, but it is far from the only. Skill, grit, and speed can get you through most situations - I'm still hoping Stone is our primary target with Duchene being target #2.

I’d love to get stone. But I can’t think of a scenario where it wouldn’t be a massive overpayment.

I’ve liked the sounds of Dube + 1st. But I’d like to throw frolik in just for some salary shed. Now with the Tkachuk contract I’m not sure.

Being a gm must be hard

No, probably not. There are some legit stars who are "second line" centres on their teams.. but Backlund is a damn good hockey player and he's a legit 2nd C on a contender like the Flames.

Perhaps NAS watched WAS play very physical (and win) against CGY recently as well.

Don't think it's MMF. He was always staunchly against returning posters, remember?

It's someone else, but I can't put my finger on it.
