Exactly this.
The play was an automatic 2, 5 and a game IMO. Four minutes was a joke. Then, as you say, playing without a helmet (he got up and engaged, BEFORE
the play stopped and things went crazy). Should have been 9 minutes and a game.
And if that's what they give him, I wouldn't even care about a suspension.
But since he only got 4 minutes (the reffing in this league has completely lost it), I think a suspension is necessary. If the league had any consistency, it should be 5 games. But I think he'll get 2.

I think even oilers media is starting to accept this is going to be a decent suspension. Willis just wrote a piece that is halfway unbiased for the athletic (sorry don't have the link).

20 games. Send a message that this behavior is unacceptable. Laying a clean hit should not result in a mugging by a Neanderthal and possible injury to a star player. Kassian is a repeat offender. Throw the book at him.

I hope he gets the max.
you don't need a clown rag dolling one of the NHL's young star players because you didn't like the clean hit.
the LA games are proof you can have entertaining games with two combatants going at it without having to throw a punch.
ol Kaveman got all Roid Raged... and that was a dangerous thing and has zero place in the game

Yes, the game was great. There was passion, intensity, and hate. All good. We need more of that.
However, Kassian crossed the line and went too far. Throwing haymakers from behind at a guy that wasn't engaging him, is a recipe for serious injury, and ISN'T intensity and passion. It's idiocy.
Loved the game, but the league cannot ignore what he did. Or the league a much bigger joke that it already is.

Or maybe it'll be like when you get too many demerits against your license and you have to take a driving course.
They'll have to invent an educational regimen to teach Kassian:
"This Hit = Good.....This Reaction = No, no, BAD!"
Forcing to watch Flames game tape 'A Clockwork Orange' style.
Presumably followed up with long hours of an intensive educational course in proper headgear adornment techniques.

So, they're complaining that the hits are too hard?
Ferraro. That's Bush league for a TSN guy.
Man, people really hate Tkachuk.
I love it.

They were very different incidents. Obviously Kassian's was much more dangerous, but it was also a heat of the moment response to a hit on himself. Lucic was trying to send a message. The NHL tends to be more tolerant of responses than 'message-sending'.
Also I assume 5+ games isn't an option as this is not an in-person hearing. My guess is 2 games, though I'd like it to be more.

I wonder if it is something like 6 games, which would take him out of the back to back games at the end of the month.
edit - I believe it has to be in-person hearing to go 6 or more.

Is it an in-person hearing? If so then that could be on the table, if its a phone hearing then it wont be more than 4.

I just took a quick skim of Torres list of suspensions, and there are a lot of them, and they seem to all be between the top of the circle and centre ice. No idea what Ferraro is talking about.

Why are the media such Oiler fanboys? Because of their ages in the 80s?
