I should have mentioned this: The only exception to this is hot girls. They look really hot as cowgirls. Everyone else looks like tools.

I am.
Hat, boots, jeans, big belt buckle, the works.
Shame I'm in Vancouver. It's a lonesome range out here I tells ya.

There's a place for you if you'd rather everyone be suited up all the time, everytime. It's called Toronto. Move there if it bothers you so much.

I also am gleefully participating in "stampede week = casual friday everyday" but as far as dressing like a cowboy ... I don't quite get it. Not my bag, but if you want to break out the spurs and chaps who am I to judge?

For me its an excuse to wear jeans all week with short sleeve button up shirts. Not hat, no buckle, no boots.
When I go out I will wear a hat only because I have found a black had works better for this week. And if the girl you are out with is dressed up, you have to wear something, although I will never wear the buckle or the boots.
Also I dont consider Wranglers to be jeans. Buy a good pair of normal jeans and wear those.

It's Stampede, people dress up in Western wear, it's a fun little thing to do for a week. If you don't like it fine, but don't start a thread belittling the people who do it.

I am probably the furthest from a country & western fan, but I really enjoy Stampede. Why:
- Friday morning off to watch a parade.
- Able to take 60-90 minute breaks in the morning to find free pancakes.
- Stampede parties that have free food and booze; and if it's a vendor we are encouraged to attend.
- Basically the fact that the entire city takes the time and effort to turn this into a week long party.
Part of that is dressing western. If most people didn't, then the hot girls also wouldn't, so I will take the bad with the good.
I look forward to seeing your thread in December about why you also hate Christmas.

I'll belittle whoever I damn want! You're dressed like a cowboy, aren't you?

I don't think Christmas is in the same ballpark as Stampede. People don't come to work dressed as Santa or Elves. Halloween is another story... if you are a professional coming to work dressed as a vampire... come on now.

They look really hot but you probably won't have much of a chance with them because while they are obviously having fun and enjoying the spirit of the Stampede you are busy being too cool for school and complaining on an internet message board.

If "too cool" means I keep my dignity and dont spend 100s of dollars on snake skin boots I only wear 7/365 days in a year, then you are right. I am waaaay too cool.

No actually I'm not, however if I were back in Calgary working in my old office I sure as hell would be, and would love every minute of it.
