Hearing the Islanders and Flames are finalizing an enormous deal. Stay tuned.

Eric Staal may be involved in this CGY/NYI deal. Islanders were reluctant to move him unless right deal came along. He makes $9.99 mil for one more year, big pill.

Wait the Isles found someone to take that Staal contract? You gotta be kidding me. Yashin 2.0 if you ask me.

I actually like this for the Flames. Staal is expensive but he's also the best centre in Calgary since Langkow.

Top goaltending prospect Dustin Wolf, WHL goalie of the year, is headed to NYI in the Staal deal. Chandler Stephenson may also be involved. Lots of moving parts here. GMs also discussed Stepan, I'm told.

Can confirm Staal, Wolf, Stephenson involved in Isles/Flames blockbuster. Flames are also receiving a significant portion of cap although I'm told Isles will still reap huge savings.

going to be an interesting one to follow. As a Flames fan I obviously hope that Wolf is the real deal, but goalies are so weird ... never a sure thing with those prospects. Should help your cap situation though, so good job on that front.

also really like what Ravi has done with the Flames so far. Focus on future assets but also take advantage of other team's cap situation ... looks good to me.
