Default Your Favorite Christmas Movies

So what is everyone's favorite Christmas movies? There are certain movies I make sure to watch this time every year, and those movies generally have not changed since I was a kid. The only exception is the Rankin Bass movies, which I just don't find myself watching. Maybe if I had kids of my own I'd have them watch it, but once I hit a certain age I just didn't bother watching them anymore.

Anywhere here's my top ten:
1. It's a Wonderful Life (huge Jimmy Stewart fan)
2. Die Hard
3. Home Alone
4. A Christmas Story (used to be my favorite)
5. Mickey's Christmas Carol
6. Lethal Weapon 2
7. A Christmas Carol (Scrooge)
8. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (animated version)
9. Lethal Weapon
10. Christmas Vacation

HM: Bad Santa, Die Hard 2, Home Alone 2, Simpsons Roasting On an Open Fire, and Ernest Saves Christmas which is my guilty pleasure. I'd probably put Batman Returns on there, but not sure I'd say it's much of a Christmas movie like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon are.

Then there are a few I've never really seen like Gremlins, Scrooged, and A Muppet Family Christmas. There are also a few I hate like the awful Ron Howard Grinch movie, Elf, and The Santa Clause movies.

Anyone else have a different opinion? I know a lot of people love Elf, but I'm just not a fan of Will Ferrell shtick.

Muppet Christmas Carol and Christmas Vacation are two I go out of my way to watch every year.. watched White Christmas yesterday for the first time and it was also really good.

To Grandmother's House We Go, starring the Olsen twins when they were, like, six.

...or maybe it's just nostalgia from childhood memories.

Really haven't been many good xmas movies recently... all our favorites are 15+ years old.

WE must be getting old.

1) Scrooged
2) Christmas Vacation
3) Bad Santa
4) Elf
5) Home Alone

Not really Christmas movies:
6) Trading Places
7) Die Hard
8) Lethal Weapon
9) Life of Brian.
Brian was born at the same time as Jesus and the opening scene had the Wise Men. Okay, that may be stretching it.
10) Gremlins.
Haven't seen it in over 20 years but I liked it as a teenager. Of course anything with Phoebe Cates was good when I was a teenager.

Oldies but goodies:
11) Grinch (original)
12) Charlie Brown
13) Rudolph

All of the old animated/claymation movies - Rudolph, Frosty, Little Drummer Boy, etc. We always watched Sound of Music at xmas too, so fond memories of that. Original 'The Grinch That Stole Christmas' - hate the Jim Carey version. When I was a kid, they also used to play Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas but I haven't seen it on TV in years.

The kids always made sure we rented Ernest Saves Christmas, back in the day. Haven't watched it in a few years though.

Others are: Love Actually, The Holiday, The Family Stone, The Home Alone series, Arthur Christmas, Life of Brian, Elf, Muppet Christmas Carol, Nightmare Before Christmas, Polar Express, and oodles of the old classics.

Honorable mention to Ernest Saves Christmas, probably the most underrated Christmas movie in the history of cinema.

I'm going to go have a dig around the $5 bin at Wal-Mart and see if I can find Ernest Saves Christmas. I think we need to watch it again this year.
