What's scary is that the Joao backhand in my opinion is technically ahead of Carlos. Once he bulks up his serve and gets more aggressive about moving forward to build pressure, he will be pretty much unstoppable. That being said, the current edition of Carlos looks insanely dialed in and is done effing around for the entertainment factor.

Yeah, it almost looks like a hybrid of the modern forehand (Novak is a good example) and the NextGen forehand (Tiafoe and Kyrgios are good examples). He doesn't have the tip of his racquet pointing at his opponent, but it's also not pointing straight-up either. How Sinner pulls off the slingshot forehand with his racquet face pointing at the back fence is incredible, but also explains the power in that stroke.

Also, Novak vs. Charlie could be a round 4 match which is pretty crazy. Call me crazy, but I think Machac has a great chance to knock Djoker out of the tourney.

the top 8 seeds aren't spread out so they can't meet before the quarters? That would be weird

Sorry, my bad, you are right, it would be a potential quarter-final match. I jumped the gun.

By the way, it looks like Gabriel's match and Shapo's match are scheduled at the same time so it could be a case of one on the big screen and one on the laptop.

As far as our Canadians are concerned, both Gabriel and Shapo lost their opening set in tie-breaks. Shapo kicked an advertising board and got a warning.

Musetti just double-faulted serving for set 2 at 6-5 in the tie-break. He followed it up with a great point though. And then Shapo double-faults to give Musetti the 2nd set. You can't make this stuff up.

It's too bad because Musetti wasn't even playing all that great today and Shapo actually had more winners (37 to 26). However, it's the unforced errors that tell the story (26 for Musetti, 62 for Shapo).

Gabriel just lost to Silent K as well, but he played a very good match today, Khachanov always seems to raise his game at grand slams and was just more solid.

He played an incredible third set tie-break but Meddy was just a little bit better.
