Faria just took the 2nd set against Djokovic, he's playing fearless striking the ball like a young Delpo

Oh you gotta be kidding me, it's 4-4 15-40 Bucsa serving and we're suspended for a rain delay.
Edit: Play has resumed and Leylah breaks out of the gate. Serving for the match at 5-4 in set 3.

Leylah digs deep and wins it 4-6 6-4 6-4. That's the good news. the bad news is that she will likely play Coco next and the way Gauff is playing, I just don't see Leylah winning.

Gaby and Erin won their opening round doubles match, so its been a pretty good day again today. Just need Felix to get by ADF later tonight.

Oh man, what a comeback by ADF to knock out Felix in five sets from two sets to love down.

Felix can join Casper Ruud on the golf course as Jakub Mensik sent the Norwegian packing in four sets. Mensik will now take on ADF in round 3.

Credit to her for battling back in that match but she looks a long way off from being a serious contender at a major. Too many unforced balls into the net and too many ineffective serves.
Maybe it was the winds and dealing with someone who was not giving her a whole lot of power to absorb, but she needs to find a seriously higher level against Coco to have any real shot.

I didn't watch the match but from the score it looks like Fokina was the better player as even the two sets Felix won he had to scratch and claw in tiebreakers. Disappointing result given his positive start to the season at Adelaide.

It looks like quite a match, but as a seeded player FAA has to be able to find a way to close a 2-0 set lead in R2 at a major.....sigh there's always hope Diallo serves the lights out on silent k and moves on but it's a big ask.

Me either. The stat lines suggest that FAA had his second serve beaten up badly and that he hit a large number of unforced errors - this is typical of the matches he loses but really could have won at some point.

I'm pretty sure this match will be on either Rod Laver or Margaret Court and Leylah doesn't mind the big stage. If she can cleanup the unforced errors and keep Coco off balance, she has a puncher's chance, but it's going to be very tough.

Coco needs to have a really off day to keep the LAF Folger's Coffee train chugging along
Felix went back to his normal routine of netting or or going long on low pressure rally balls. This might be a new out of the box suggestion, but has he thought about a coaching change?

The competition in tennis is just insane these days along with the physical demands as Seb Korda lost overnight to Aussie Aleksandar Vukic in five sets. That's the two guys who completed in the Adelaide final going out early in the Aussie Open. A case could be made that both guys lost their legs due to too much tennis.

What's scary is that the Joao backhand in my opinion is technically ahead of Carlos. Once he bulks up his serve and gets more aggressive about moving forward to build pressure, he will be pretty much unstoppable. That being said, the current edition of Carlos looks insanely dialed in and is done effing around for the entertainment factor.
