Leylah saved a break point, up 5-2.

Rain delay.

Leylah's Lululemon kit is fantastic...

Didn't make the pilgrimage to Melbourne this year. With fewer matches in each stadium session and prices going north there's just not good value anymore. Then you have to add flights, accommodation etc and you're looking at $300-$400 per day, depending on how organised you are.

I'm not sure what its like at the other slams, but a grounds pass, even at $50 per day, doesn't seem worth it to me. You'd be spending half your day in lines.

Plenty of rain around today, suspending play on the outside courts. The extra day will help the scheduling.

Kei Nishikori had a mini miracle in Melbourne yesterday saving 2 match points and coming back from 0-2 in sets to advance.

Leylah gets Bucsa next which is going to be tricky, the Spaniard can look awesome at times and then look pretty terrible quite often in the same match. My feeling is that Leylah should win, but it could be quite the struggle.

Do I detect more pop on Leylah’s groundstrokes? Sharper angles too, maybe she’s finally committed to the attack after seeing Paolini rip it up last year

Yeah, I think there is a little more pop on those groundies. Still too many double faults for my liking (6 in two sets) and she has to battle too hard to hold her serve. Obviously she's never going to be able to serve bombs like Sabalenka or Gauff, but if she can spot her serve in better locations, it might makes things easier.

Hady Habib not only became the first player from Lebanon to qualify for a grand slam, but decided to make even more history by becoming the first player from Lebanon to win a grand slam match 7-6 6-4 7-6 over Yunchaokete Bu of China.

I'm calling it - Alex Michelsen will upset Oikos today. He's got a big game and the fast conditions in Melbourne will expose that Tsitsipas backhand.

Looks routine so far, Michelson up 2 sets.

Michelsen serving for the match at 5-4 in set 4. Just an incredible return game from the American and Oikos coughs up a double fault for the break.

Edit: A little shaky but Alex closes it out. Biggest win of his young career.

Frances is leaving it all out there (including some of his stomach contents). Cleanup on 1573 Arena.

Edit: Tiafoe and Rinderknech are going the distance with Frances obviously not feeling great.

Edit 2: Frances survives taking set 5 6-3

Felix is into round 2 of the Aussie Open following a 6-3 6-0 4-6 6-1 win over Jan-Lennard Struff. 19 aces to 1 double fault for FAA, that'll do very nicely. He gets ADF next.

Looks like Tiafoe has switched from Nike to lululemon.
