Are there more reservoirs in that area? Old Man is basically dried up, and the rest of the region has been completely dependent on the creeks & rivers being served from snow pack in the rockies.
Strange enough if you go to southeast Alberta in areas like Cardston, Taber, Lethbridge, etc....the St Mary's Irrigation district is much more setup to provide larger water needs. But I guess the access to basically free natural gas is an issue there.

Why would then not be available? If you can't get a substantial water license, you aren't going to have a lot of choice anyway.

Water licenses are not all surface allocations. A project like this would most likely be groundwater sourced and around 10% of ground water is allocated in that area, even less is used.

Who do you vote for that isn't beholden to a bunch of rich people trying to make themselves richer at the expense of our greater wellbeing?
The whole system is based on needing $ to get elected, so you must please those that dole out the $ if you want to be a career politician.
We're all just voting for what group of rich people we want to bend us over harder for the next 4 years.

Because its more likely that a water license is awarded than it is that they develop and fund a way to use recycled water.
You know, corporate greed and the UCP being in bed with their corporate overlords. Amirite?

On the website they say they have a non-potable water source, so probably not a water license from the river.

Is Selenium-infused water better for data centres?

We'll see, but if I were a betting man I'd be giving this about a 2% chance of happening.

Anyone else getting the deja vu feeling like when the cannabis grow ops were being built everywhere only to have almost all shuttered 4 years later leaving municipalities with ugly abandoned buildings, no property taxes and no jobs?

What if we just terraformed Edmonton and turned it into a massive data center, harnessing the power of the Sweatpants to convert dirty heat to AI power?
