We know Treliving. We know he’s in on everything. It’s safe to assume he has had a call or two with Ottawa, but that doesn’t mean it’s happening...but rumours being what they are, Eklund could have caught wind that Tree had called at some point, and is “reporting” that.
Tree also did mention he would be looking at “maybe” adding to the defensive group...and hey, Karlsson is a defenceman.
(of course it’s 99% not happening, but...could you imagine?)

Shooting percentage aside just watch him play. Guy is really talented. Continued to produce in the playoffs as well. I have no idea if he stays at that elite level but i think its far more likely he stays closer to that than what he showed previously in his career. 6.5 actually seems like a very reasonable ask when you know these arb cases usually end up closer to the middle. (Music...)

If you think there is a chance of him going to Edmonton it doesn't hurt to throw up rumors you are interested in order to try and help drive up the price.

If we were looking at Karlsson we would have to be including Brodie as Karlsson would be coming in to play top RD alongside Gio. Stone to be included too because salaries need to work for Calgary to be able to extend Karlsson and Tkachuk and bringing in Michael Stone might help with them being able to extend Mark Stone. I’d imagine one of Bennett or Jankowski would have to be included along with a 1st in 19 and 2nd in 20... maybe even a decent prospect as well, I honestly think the price would be too high IMO.

It would be awesome to get Tkachuk along with Karlsson but those offers include Gaudreau or Monahan along with a piece like Hanifin.
Would it shock me t hear about Brad checking in on Karlsson in early August? Not at all. Realistically the Flames wouldn’t part with the pieces Ottawa would want. If it was something as silly as Brodie+Bennett+Kylington then yes by all means proceed (with an extension in place)

Letestu grabs a PTO with Florida. Could have had two-way deals with numerous clubs, perhaps including #CBJ, but he’s banking on himself as #NHL player, wants a one-way.
Panthers make a lot of sense, as they need reliable bottom six forwards who can provide stability.
However …

If Letestu and FLA don’t agree on a one-way deal in early Oct, don’t be surprised if Letestu circles back and accepts #CBJ two-way deal. His choice on a two-way deal would be with Columbus.
