Like I said, it's all "good on ya, bro!" as if men wouldn't have the same feelings that the women do.
As a man, I'd be hugely embarrassed if pictures and videos of me engaged in sexual activity were viewed by family, friends, colleagues and strangers regardless of how good looking the woman was.
Edited to add that I'm not trying to come off like one of those mens rights moron. Just thought it was an interesting thing to bring up.

A leaked video of me getting my freak on would be the least watched porn clip ever.

I thought that in this day and age, all password authentication on the web has some sort of a lockout mechanism after X tries that keeps you from logging in for a period of time or after an added layer of authentication... although not sure a "captcha" would be sufficient if this was an automated tool attack.

Just tried with my Apple account, 21 bad passwords and it kept letting me enter them. 22nd try I flubbed my complex password and on the 23rd try it let me in with correct password.
Do not use any dictionary words, even in multiples, as a password for your Apple ID. Do not think that adding some 'random' 2 numbers at the end will do much to protect you either.

Hahahahaha!!
But yeah you don't even need to do that, just make it take 500ms to try a password. User doesn't care, trying a million dictionary words all of a sudden takes a really really long time. And have monitoring to alert ops of inordinate retries.

Yeah captchas can help but even many of those are broken (i.e. machine readable).
Even two factor authentication I've read doesn't apply to backups and photostreams on iCloud.
Security is hard.

Yeah, it's rather sad and pathetic to see the Apple Fanboys (particularly on ArsTechnica) falling all over each other to push Apple's narrative that this is all the fault of those whose account was broken into. Good luck telling them that Apple is still susceptible to a brute force attack. Also, good luck convincing them that Apple's shoddy security practices as it relates to 2FA have been known for some time now:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/09...fa_bad_advice/
Also of note in that story is that the ability to do a restore from iCloud's server backups that can include files the user actually deleted, coupled with at least one actress stating she deleted those nudes quite some time ago, suggests that Apple is approaching Facebook-type negligence in its failure to remove files that users delete.
Two questions arise out of this. First, how long until Apple fixes all of this now that it has become a major PR problem? Second, how much money is Apple going to pay to settle the inevitable lawsuits?
Hopefully other cloud backup services are taking serious looks at their own platforms as well.

Where did you do this? I have been locked out multiple times from my Apple account for entering the password wrong three or four times.

While there is undoubtedly a power imbalance between the genders that gives rise to crimes like this, I do think some perspective is needed in the rhetoric in discussing this issue.
Kate Upton, for example, has made a fortune exploiting that very imbalance. Her whole 'career' is premised upon wanting people to want to see her naked. Her last (only?) movie role in that garbage 'The Other Woman' was the male fantasy of the busty, blonde, bimbo who is really good at sex and not much else. At one point in the film, she was walking so hard to bounce her ample bosom, I thought she was going to give herself a black eye. She is already worth millions, as is her family, so it's not like she took the role in response to being a long-term starving actor.
She absolutely did not deserve to have her phone hacked. And whoever did it should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But if we're going to call people "scumbags" for looking at leaked pics of her - which I think is pretty harsh - we may do well to at least comment on her (and others') role in perpetuating and profiting from the very objectification of women that leads to this kind of criminal activity and which many of us are properly decrying.
The problem here isn't just nerds whacking at their computer. It's a systemic mistreatment of young women by all corners of society.

It didn't take long for the "Stop Slut Shaming" people to become equally annoying as the "Looking At Stolen Nude Photos Is My Inalienable Right" people.

The entire thread is annoying. The bottom line is Apple needs to get their cloud security in order and celebrities need to be more cautious of where they store their nudes because hackers aren't going anywhere any time soon.

Haven't read the whole thread but don't believe this article has been posted. Sounds like there is a lot more to this than some random nude photos.
