Default where are you renting your movies

i use apple tv but it sucks - they want you to buy a lot of movies for 25 bucks rather than rent the movie for 5 bucks - they dont even make a lot of movies available to rent - my tv provider is telus and their selection sucks - i guess i could try netflix US version or something - i just dont understand why it is so difficult to rent decent movies in canada

Most of the time when we rent we use the Redbox Machines 1.50 for a dvd or 2.00 for a blueray is far cheaper than any of the streaming options. We definitely don't rent as often as we used to though.

i rent all the time - i think that is part of my problem - i watch probably 150 movies a year - 80 % are available to rent on apple tv but the rest i cant find anywhere - and telus really sucks as a movie provider - they have about 10 % of the movies i want to watch

Another good place to rent less current movies is the library. I hear they are removing the library membership fee next year so a great deal gets even better.

I don't understand how any adult video store stays in business.

For normal movies, if it's not a new release in Redbox seems like the only choice is to either buy/subscribe to a service and hope it is there, or pirate it. Which sucks because I want to rent Blu-rays.

I just noticed that zip.ca closed this month too. So mail order isn't even an option now.

There is a lot I miss about renting videos at the store. Some of my favorite movies were ones that I stumbled into because the new release wall was picked over.
In an on-demand world, those type of surprises no longer exist.

There's a small corner store about a block from me. The guy always has 1-2 copies of most of the recent movies you can rent, and a pretty healthy selection of stuff he's gotten over the years.

I'm shocked that people still rent movies in this day and age, much less physical copies. Driving to a place with a red box and back would probably cost me $4 in gas!
