I think Colbert will do really well. Like Fallon he can bring a big musical edge to it. Not only being a huge lover of music and knowing a lot about it, you can tell he has a theater/musical type background.
I'm sure there will be a lot of song and dance type numbers like Fallon does, which might be some of the best parts he has.
I still don't like it though, cause I can't see how this isn't bad for The Report, which I enjoy watching far more than the typical late night shows. Plus it offers something you don't get a lot of. Interviews on books, ideas, etc. While I'll agree TDS and CR aren't higbrow, they definitely offer a lot more for the brain and societal knowledge than the other shows. Great places to find out about topics you want to learn more about, issues you may not know existed.
Late night shows? Bring in A to B list celebrity, plug your pointless blockbuster, perpetuate the celebrity of celebrities, rinse repeat. We don't need more of that. (I know this isn't a new show, he's just the new host, but you know what I mean. I feel we need Colbert more the way he is now.)
